Nirvana - Floyd the Barber
have you ever seen an idealist with grey hairs on his head?
or successful men who keep in touch with unsuccessful friends?
you only think you did
i could have sworn i saw it too
but as it turns out it was just a clever ad for cigarettes.

Stand up and Shout
For Those About to Rock
Shot Through the Heart
Copenhagen
Scream and Shout
Bang Your Head (Metal Health) (Sad thing is, I've done this myself getting out of bed a few times)
Rock You Like a Hurricane
Ring of Fire
Forever amen

I guess you get the jist of what I listen too.
"Eh, whatever."

oh, even better than the first one i posted:

!!! - Me and Giuliani Down by the Schoolyard (A True Story)

specifically, the part of the song from minutes 3:00 - 5:30, when Nic Offer sings:

People always ask me, "What's so fucking great about dancing?"
How the f*ck should I know? Yeah, even I can barely understand it
But when the music takes over, the music takes control
Here's a message to you, Rudy and you, sir, Mr. Bloomberg
And the rest of you ties-too-tight dudes
Y'all could learn a lesson, by losing inhibitions, yeah
Losing yourself in the music, losing yourself in the moment
Because we have nothing more than this very second
You can't count on the one coming after, no one's sure about the one before
So forget about it, we live here and now, dude, here and now, here and now, here and now
So get on down down down down down down down down down down down down down down

here, you can dig on it thanks to YouTube. the whole song is great, but skip to 3:00 if you wanna hear what i mean...

Pff...just because you sing a pathetic, simplistic, shallow political message to a tune doesn't make it any less pathetic, simplistic and shallow. What pseudo-intellectualism...

I used to wake up to Time by Pink Floyd - the most practical use of it I've ever had i think, given how it has about a dozen bells of various descriptions about half a minute in. Oddly enough though, I'd usually wake up on the ticking beforehand.

Otherwise, I'd say Doves - black and white town.

My brother used to wake up to that Aerosmith song that started out "Wake up, kid" something something something "nothing ever changes but the date. You're a grand slammer, but you're no Babe Ruth, you gotta learn how to relate. Or you'll be swinging from the pearly gates." Or something like that. Aerosmith is easily number two on the list of nonsensical American artists.

do you add lead to your food everyday, just make sure you get your daily dose of COMPLETELY FUCKING STUPID?

it's just a song about dancing, you dumb shit. the fact that it refers to the mayors of the city in which the band is from is about as "political" as referring to the mayor of LA, for a band from there.

so stop trolling and go fist yourself with your "master race" butt buddies.

No, I just read "Giuliani", and assumed you and yo hip-hip bruvas were leik, reperesenin da street in the political sphere, seeing as rap/hip-hop/other is more or less the extent your narrow intellectual bandwidth can find itself a intellectual niche in. My mistake though. It's not even a bad song with a ridiculous comment about politics. Just a bad song tout court.

!!! (pronounced "chk chk chk") is not hip-hop. they are a subgenre of indie rock dubbed "dance punk". but i don't wanna blow your mind with terminology you'd never be able to understand. they're supposed to be pretty big in Britain as well as the rest of Europe.

and as regards my narrow intellectual bandwidth, i guess i could start posting links to .pdfs of books i enjoy, but somehow that seems reaching a bit. not everything is about politics, kiddo. and your ability to rant and rave on an interweb forum is not indicative of intellectual bandwidth, only of having copious free-time or a predilection towards pseudo-intellectual procrastination.

sometimes entertainment is just entertainment. but good work with your assumptions, i'm getting accustomed to your paucity of reason or investigation into anything before flipping out in your reagonomic-histrionics.

and, to keep this one topic, here's another good song to wake up to:

Placebo - Special K (Timo Maas Remix)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8_L8viBJ3o

now, go hyperventilate into a paper bag before you rant at me for clearly advocating legalizing Ketamine (sarcasm), just because i think a song that uses special k as a poetic device is fun to listen to.

I have to say I enjoy Cannibal Corpse more for the titles than for the actual songs...
