in australia u celebrate

January 1 - New Year's Day
January 26 - Australia Day
Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Monday - variable dates
April 25 - ANZAC Day
Second Monday in March - Adelaide Cup Day (South Australia only) Before 2006 held in May
Second Monday in June - Queen's Birthday (except Western Australia)
First Tuesday in November - Melbourne Cup Day (Metropolitan Melbourne and ACT[1] only, although observed by many businesses across the country); other regions may have a public holiday on the day of a horse race of local significance.
December 25 - Christmas Day
December 26 - Boxing Day (except South Australia)
December 26 - Proclamation Day (South Australia only)
Labour Day (localised holiday, on a different day in each region)
Show Day (localised holiday, on a different day in each region)

no place in australia celebrates halloween but due to the influence of american tv shows some kids in a neighbourhood may try to trick & or treat their neighbours. and why not if you can get some lollies.

ANZAC day is our war remembrance day. (Australian & New Zealand Army Corp)

Melbourne Cup Day is a whole day off work for a 3 minute horse race.

so nothing we celebrate here would be suitable.

i'll send you the psd for AoR: Magic, replace the sacntuary with santa's toy factory make each castle a different elf race and instead of the current resources you can add candy canes, wood toys, coal pieces for naughty boys and so on. and instead of ports you can put flying sleds 1 for each reindeer

Just to point out - none of the holidays that you've all mentioned are "based" on Christian special days... they are all pagan festivals that have been adopted by the Christian religion... (except Haloween - which is STILL a pagan festival)

Most of the holidays being mentioned are fairly obscure and uni-national (ie, only celebrated by one country, or a few countries).

Christmas is pretty universal, and doesn't have to be 'religious'. Here are some ideas for Christmas maps off the top of my head, only 1 of which is vaguely 'religious':
-Snowball fight (for us Northern Hemisphere dwellers)
-Waiting for Santa (+ve bonuses for good boys/girls -ve bonuses for naughty boys/girls)
-I like DiM's idea for a Christmassy AoR map
-Santa's Grotto / Toy Factory
-Follow the Star (The Journey of the Wise Men)
-Battle for the Christmas Tree - baubels etc. as terrs, tinsel as impassables
-Christmas around the world (different images of the ways people celebrate Christmas)
