http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tolland,_Connecticut

Two things that are very descriptive of Tolland:
1. According to the school district report in 2006, 96% of students in the tolland school system were White/ Caucasian. And I would be willing to bet that of that 96%, about 80% were either Irish or Italian.

2. when the town built a Dunkin' Donuts, they refused to let Dunkin' Donuts put in a drive-through because they did not want to ruin the historic feel of the town, this despite the fact that the Dunkin' Donuts was built across the street from a strip club.

Other than that, it used to be an important stop on the road between Boston and New York in colonial times, and was recently, 2004 i think, ranked as the 29th best place to live in the US by people who have obviously never had to live there for all 18 years of their life.

And its pronounced "tall-ind", not "toll-and".

Oh, and Wes Craven is using the old high school here to shoot his new movie, "25/8"

I know. I love the Salem/Keizer area so much. It's not a big dirty city and you can actually go outside and breathe and see green, but it's also not a hicktown in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do. The perfect balance of both worlds.

There are places not far up and down the road from here. And if you have friends, the boredom can be mitigated. Especially if you like outdoors; there are miles upon miles of undeveloped land out here to do camping.
