Ok, I know I am ahead of myself but I had an idea for a tournament we could do for the map. It would uses several different maps but the finals would be played on the map.

The Halloween Tournament
This tournament will hold 64 players

Game Play
Round 1 – Trick or Treat
Map – Madness
You 64 players will be divided up into two groups:
First Group - Trick or Treaters
Second Group – The Candy hander outers <------ Need better name
Each player will play (Any number of games will work) against the opposite group
You will be randomly matched up and you will only play 1 game at a time
Ones everybody has played (Any number of games will work) the group with the most wins, moves on to the next round.

Round 2 – The Choice
Map - 8 thoughts
The remaining 32 players will have to make a choice. Do you go into the House or go home?
You will be matched up with one player and play one game. The winner of their game enters the hunted house.

Round 3 - Haunted House
Map - Draknor - Level 1 <------If there is more of these out we could use them
The remaining 16 players will now enter the hunted house. You must be strong to keep going.
You will be matched up again with 1 person.
Game 1 – 8 people will chicken out and run home to mommy, that is the 8 people that lose.
Game 2 (Could be played on Draknor - Level 2) – You will be matched up again with 1 person. 4 more people will wet there pants and run home to mommy, that is the people who lose.

Round 4 – The Escape
Map - HALLOWEEN HOLLOWS
Only one person will escape.
Their will be four, 4 player games. The player with the most points escapes and wins the tournament.

Score
1st – 4
2nd – 3
3rd – 2
4th – 0

Settings
The settings will be picked by that map makers.

lack would really prefer it if you didn't have maps with changing xml. This was kind of outlawed along with seasonal maps. Sorry.

Clicky

Im pretty sure that was referring to maps that change border dependent on what season it was, for example adding snow drifts as extra impassables during winter...

But on the topic of holiday maps, how politically correct is CC? Because if at all you will have to be careful to avoid any Christian* holidays.
*(or any other religion's holidays, i mention Christian only because most of the holidays suggested so far have been Christian)

probably should be a international, non-religious holiday, dont want to norrow it down too much though
One idea:
11th of november, though ironic to fight on a day that is set aside to remember the war dead...

and what about valentine's day is that international? it's know at an international level but it is an american holiday.
for example in romania we have a similar holiday called "Dragobete" but it isn't on the same day as valentine's day.

or halloween since it has been brought up and cairns is making a map for it, what about that? in my country we don't have halloween because it's an american holiday.

so basically can't think of something non religious and international

I dont think anyone is going to be able to think up any holidays that would fit the 2 requirements i voiced.

Although despite both valentines day and halloween, being based on Christian ideology, being the feast day for st valentines and all saints eve, respectively. I think with globalisation, and the commercialization of these days i doubt anyone will not have heard of them, so they might be some of our best bets. Also thanks to the afore mentioned commercialization they have lost most of the religious significance now.

you could do a large map of the globe with Will Smith in it and have space ships attack from outer space and call it Independance Day....nearly every country would celebrate that....

Earth Day could be used as a "worldwide" event, though it is somewhat close to Valentines Day, with a large gap from there to October. It'd be ideal if there was an Event/Holiday in June or July. :)

Edit: We could use Valentines Day and Halloween...and then make our own "Holiday" for CC in June...think of it like celebrating CC's Half Birthday. ;)

What about having some holiday-themed maps made, then when it's near that holiday, special privileges are given to those maps to encourage play? Like freemiums can do Speed Games with this map (only) or something similar?

New years eve/day is pretty universal, fight over the champaign bottle :D
March:
April:
    April Fools' Day

Valentine's Day was unvented by a very smart business man, as well as Father's Day and Mother's Day. I dont know if that should affect our decision or not. I think Halloween, CC's Birthday, and maybe New Years could be good.

actually, all saints day was originally on may 13, but it was moved to November 1st because the may 13th was also the day of a pagan holiday. So all saints day is November 1st, and Halloween is October 31st

also:
Wikipedia wrote:Halloween is celebrated in several parts of the Western world, most commonly in Ireland, the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom and occasionally in parts of Australia and New Zealand.

and there are also halloween equivilants accross the globe, just i dont think they are in october.

what the heck happened on november 11th?

oh and about christmas
Wikipedia wrote:In most places around the world, Christmas Day is celebrated on December 25. Christmas Eve is the preceding day, December 24. In the United Kingdom and many countries of the Commonwealth, Boxing Day is the following day, December 26. In Catholic countries, Saint Stephen's Day or the Feast of St. Stephen is December 26. The Armenian Apostolic Church observes Christmas on January 6. Eastern Orthodox Churches that still use the Julian Calendar celebrate Christmas on the Julian version of 25 December, which is January 7 on the more widely used Gregorian calendar, because the two calendars are now 13 days apart.

Wikipedia wrote:There are several alternative terms for Christmas. Crimbo is a slang term which first appeared in print in 1928; the variant form Crimble was first used by John Lennon in a 1963 Beatles' Fan Club Christmas single. Xmas is a long established abbreviation, though it is involved in the secularization of Christmas debate. Yule is used in Northern Europe. In the USA, the term(s) "holiday" or "season" may be used, as addressed at Christmas controversy.

And i believe that there r also lots of different celebrations basically based off of christmas

and do places like The United Kingdom have the 4th of July? yes they do, it comes right after the 3rd of July and before the 5th  its just not celebrated in any country except the U.S.

about valentines day
Wikipedia wrote:Valentine's Day or Saint Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated on February 14. In the Americas and Europe

but there is a holiday i can think of... (at least i think its a holiday)
NEW YEARS EVE!!!!!

course, it would have to go through the chinese new years eve also

Wikipedia wrote:Earth Day is a name used for two different observances, both held annually during spring in the northern hemisphere, and autumn in the southern hemisphere. These are intended to inspire awareness of and appreciation for the Earth's environment. The United Nations celebrates Earth Day, which was founded by John McConnell in 1969, each year on the March equinox, while a global observance originated by Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in, and since January 1970 also called Earth Day, is celebrated in many countries each year on April 22, including the U.S.
