The Fourth Indiana Jones

Anybody think it'll be any good? I haven't heard a thing about it in a while and I'd like to keep it that way thank you.

I'm excited for it, but I am slightly worried it will be ruined. I am already saddened that Sean Connery won't be in it. The plot idea sounds interesting, and most of the cast seems to be ok. (Though I am worried that they are using that Shia Lebouf kid, as I am not too fond of him)

Haven't heard much lately myself, but I am still interested in it if it will be any good.

i will be there opening night.

waiting in line, rocking back and forth on the balls of my feet and humming the theme song to myself, acting like a hyperactive, excited teenager.

I'm also afraid....it had a perfect ending, riding off into the sunset at the end of Last Crusade....but I will also be there opening night, like a little kid again, humming the theme....but I might do ya one better....be a huge nerd and wear my fedora to the theater. ;) It looks excellent from the trailers, & I have some small faith that Spielberg won't do to Indy what Lucas did to Star Wars.

What's wrong with LaBeouf? I think he did pretty well in Transformers. He even had an article in TIME.

I'm hoping isn't a flop. Might not see it opening night, bbut at least within the first week.

that's more a statement on the quality of journalism found within the pages of TIME than a statement on LaBeouf.

i'm going to say yes it will be good just because it's Indiana Jones. I was a little surprised that they picked the guy for Transformers but I'm sure they had a good reason for it.

It's Indiana Jones. The name will give it plenty of boost to keep it from flopping.

I don't think there's anything wrong with LaBeouf except that I have a hard time visualizing him as the son of Indy. Though like I said, I'm sure they have a good reason for giving him the part.

i am excited for it. i think it will be good. they have to do something really good after so long since the last one. it would be cool if sean connery were in it, but i think he looks younger than harrison ford now. i would love to see it in the theatre, but we don't get out a whole lot around here, so maybe will have to wait forever for the dvd.

Opening night if I can, seeing the level of confidence in the poll and posts.

Why shouldn't we be excited? Has Indiana Jones ever let us down before? For that matter has Harrison?

Okay here's something. I've heard a lot of people talk about how the 2nd Indiana Jones movie wasn't any good. After watching it myself, I feel that it is a good movie(not great but good) that just got belittled because it had to be the one that followed Raiders of the Lost Ark and we all know that it would have been very hard to live up to that standard.

So what do you guys think?

i think Temple of Doom sucked cause Lawrence Kasdan didn't write it. Last Crusade similarly suffered from a paucity of nuance and depth, because they didn't use Kasdan to write it.

it's the same thing with the Star Wars movies. why is Empire Strikes Back the best one? cause Kasdan wrote it.

the writer is the most important and least credited part of the entire movie-making process.

I've noticed that the second movie in any trilogy tends to be the most of a letdown, from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, to Star Wars attack of the clones, to Pirates of the Caribbean, Dead Men's Chest.
Normally it is because they have to do groundwork that will allow the 3rd movie to be awesome. This will be the first time that I've ever seen the 4th movie in a series (I'm counting Star Wars as 2 distinct series here, 1970's version (awesome), 1990's version (awful))

I'm really excited for Indy 4, and will go get midnight release tickets if possible, I never saw the original 3 in theaters, because I was just a baby when the third one came out!

Well, if we're counting Empire Strikes Back as the second movie in a trilogy, I feel that this was the best movie of the three because the bad guys could win. That's something you don't get to see in the bookends of a trilogy.

did you even read my post?

it has everything to do with the quality of the writing. look at Two Towers... then look at Matrix Reloaded.

or, look at Aliens vs. Alien. the quality of the writing is apparent. but enough of this now. i'm not trying to criticise anyone, just dropping truth bombs out of my B-52 of awesome.
