Mr Ben, kensington and chelsea was way to small. I have to knock it down into another terit.

Also, the airports are a bit random. Otherwise it's not going to work

Living in London, I'd love to see a map of the city, but right now I'm not impressed.
Airports are a pointless gimmick on such a small map. It's not like there are any bottlenecks or islands that need connecting. It's a small map with no mobility problems.
I don't think a small map is appropriate for such a massive and busy city, look at the NYC map, that sums up a bustling and busy city perfectly.
You've simplified the territories in a bizzare way. The outside boroughs are less London than the inner ones, but they're the ones in focus on this map. So we lose The City, Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster.... The places that people have actually heard of, and cover them with 2 territories that you've extended from outside the very centre.
Where are the parks? London has a massive amount of parks for a large city. These would make good impassables too.

I have to agree with most of that, without wanting to offend.
It does seem a bit of a cartoony map considering the scope for a map of London. Other than the place names and shape it could be a board for anywhere.

what makes London different and special: it's history; it's architecture; it's 'royal pomp', juxtaposed with being a cosmopolitan city of finance etc.

you have no reference to the Palace of Westminster (the mother of modern all parliaments and no capital bonus), Buckingham Palace, Wembley, The globe theatre, Hyde park etc... of course it does not have to be a a tourist bus tour map .. but something to differentiate it from the pack, regarding aesthetic or gameplay, would be excellent.

yeah i agree with most of those comments,
you have to bare in mind that it is still under construction,
the terits are still being thought through,
the colours are not staying - dont worry about that,

all of the people who have shown interest in the map and PM'd me asking questions about - i have told them all of this and i should really have made it clearer on the thread - sorry about that

what i plan to do is work on the them - i want to create a contrast between the busy life schedule of commuters and the unemployment, the rich and the poor,

if theres anything you want to see on this map, feel free to PM me with questions/suggestions, or just post it right here on the thread.

umm...some people want simple gameplay with a samll map since there are a lot of big maps in the foundry

so this one - were trying to keep it simple - we might not even have airports in it..? we havnt decided yet

i live in london >>>>>> as you can see, but right now this map isnt good enough, i agree with all above, why not just use the boroughs? that way u see what people have heard of and get a better map.

i seriously think that using the boroughs is needed

No offence, but I have to agree with my fellow Londoners, Ogrecrusher, Jiminski and Sam that the map as it currently stands does not do our great city justice.
If you're going to do a Greater London map then you really should include all 32 boroughs - and what the hell is Newbarn??
Before even considering 'gimmicks' such as airports and bombardments I'd advise that it would be better to get a really clear idea about your territories and bonuses. Once there's a consensus over the layout of the map, then it may well be the case that there's no need for such touches. Surely the geography of London means that there wont be any bottlenecks, thereby renedering the airports needless?
Alternatively (additionally?) to a Greater London map, you could make a Central London map which could include all of the world famous landmarks for which our city is known, even by those who've never visited.
Stick at it, I don't intend to put you off, I just want a map of London to be one of the finest on the site. :) It's what our city deserves.

hey t-o-m, why dont u do the map how you want on your own? that way you can have the boroughs, and with your map making skills and our suggestions you can do it how everyone likes. no offence kimmler but u really have to do the borough thing or the mao will be useless

Seeing where this thread is heading, I suggest maybe study the new NYC maps and openning up some chat on how people like it... or talking to Benny did that map. They put in lots of extended boroughs at the expense of lots of "core" new york stuff like landmarks and neighborhoods. For gameplay, they used a more complex variation of the "connector" option your polling on the airports, which is a slightly inaccurate verson of the NYC subway.

I think there are a good handful of "doodle" type simple maps out there (I'm thinking doodle, duck & cover, scotland, ireland, etc.), but I don't think there are any where you can really camp down for a solid build game, which is why I suggested single territory bonuses for airports (1,3,5) on a non-connecting, non-bombarding basis... but apparently nobody liked that idea. Admittedly they have something like that in Scotland, but due to locations and proximities, it never really works out to be worth taking them IMHO.

From a gamplay standpoint, if you don't do something novel with the Airports / Bridges, you'll basically have a more compact version of the current Ireland map with a central impassable river and tightly packed continents.

The problem with this, is that while chavs might be important to London life, they originated from Chatham in Kent - there's a bit of useless trivia for you! lol

i get harrassed by them all the time, the other day i was in wigan waiting for a train and they just randomly started shouting abuse at me for no reason!

and plus is it not bringing london into the map ;)

mwahahah it would be great if people supported that idea ;) !!

I like the idea of increasing the size of London. If your gonna start again. Lets make this kinda of A Cultured london.

With Big Ben , Buckingham Palace, The M15 building , soho, china district and so on!!!! Would be well cool....

although me not discarded, i think that would be quite good, i dont think that this would get through if i kept developing this map as it is now, i think that it needs things that people relate to
