College drinking...

Postby Neoteny on Tue Apr 15, 2008 11:20 pm

I've attended two different colleges and noticed a trend that drinking occurs quite a bit on Thursdays for some reason. Has anyone else experience this, and does it really merit a discussion? I know the reasoning at one college for having party nights on Thursday was because it was a podunk town with nothing to do, and everyone went home on Friday. Comments, you drunken bastards?

Because most college students have little to no use for anything that occurs on friday. Until you become responsible...and at that point you live with people have absolutly nothing to do on friday and peer pressure just ruins you.

As to the other thread...a girl from said group presentation (which may not have been said) kind of wants to have a party on thursday, so i figure ill make an appearance.

It was not said, but I'll pretend it was. That seems more like an argument for Friday to me. Why a party on Thursday? I have class Friday mornings!

where i went to school, the same pattern was apparent.

Thursday and Saturday nights were the big party nights, Friday nights were date nights.

i think this is mostly because people need a night to recover from the heavy boozing. usually at my alma mater, people would either party on Thursday or Saturday, but not both, and study on the night they didn't party.
have you ever seen an idealist with grey hairs on his head?
or successful men who keep in touch with unsuccessful friends?
you only think you did
i could have sworn i saw it too
but as it turns out it was just a clever ad for cigarettes.

It's because "Thirsty Thursday" is such a catchy phrase.

I dont really have a problem getting to friday morning...granted i only have to be up at 9 but still, most weeks i make it out the door.

It's true.

Yeah, but, at least here (even in the less podunk town), Thursdays tend to be bigger than Saturdays.

I'm actually retaking orgo because I missed too many classes last year due to oversleeping on Fridays... 2 weeks before the end of the semester... what a dick...

I think the bars around here have much better deals in general on thursday than on saturdays. I would be broke if i went to the bar as often saturday night as i do on thursday.

I really dont think missing too many classes in my final semester and being forced to retake them is an option. Those would have to be pretty tremendous thursday nights.

Well, it wasn't my final semester at the time, but yeah, some of them were...

I dont know, as fun as most times out are i just generally dont have those tremendous nights that often.

the last decent one we had was when my roomate propositioned himself to a 50 year old. But that was back at St. Pattys day.

Heh. We have a bar called Muldoon's that has the obvious nickname of Oldoons... I try to avoid it because I'm shallow like that, but I hear stories...

the best part about the whole thing was really if you were going to make a list of people most likely to proposition unattractive 50 year old women, he probably would have been last on the list. For purposes of elucidation...here is said list

1.Drunkest roomate
2.Most desperate roomate
3.Me
4.most likely to try to get back at his girlfriend roomate
5.guy who did it.

upon reflecting about it we did ask the drunkest roomate if he had ever done anything quite like that...not suprisingly he claimed that as far as he knew, he had not.

So, as third on the list, how old is the oldest female you've drunk hit on?

eh...just hit on?

my place on the list is directly correlated to the fact that i have loose morals and need money more than number 4 hates his girlfriend...though its close.

Oh, so you just did it for the money? I see nothing wrong with this moral perspective.

Tangentially, I drunk-bet a goth-ish girl fifty bucks that she would live to 25 (I think that's the age... I can't remember really). So far, I'm winning. How's that for a gamble? :D

lol the interesting thing about this is, its a very difficult gamble for you to actually lose. In addition to fighting off the need to end her own life, she should consider figuring out how to make a bet that she has the potential to be paid off in.

She was more drunk than I, so I'm sure she doesn't remember, and I'd kinda feel bad bringing it up. Anyhow, my drunk ass saw a win-win opportunity and took it.

Probably the smartest bet I've ever taken. I have a bad habit of losing my bets... either monetarily or otherwise...
