thats ok, i dont really mind, yeah we'll have to find a way of making it capture the essence of the city,
the colours dont really help!

pretty good start, but here are some suggestions

The bridges look crappy, could u make them look better?
You dont say how the airports connect to territories, could u clear that up? cause otherwise u have it sounding like they connect to EVERY territory
You could probably lower the height by a good 50 pixels, cause those 50 pixels are basically unused space
Maybe try a solid color with things like big ben in the background? or if not, then maybe blend the images together?
The bonus' look a little high for some places, like the yellow continent, maybe change it to a 3?
Also, could you remove the territory lines from the thingy showing what continent has how many?

thats all i can see for now :D

on to-do

bryguy wrote:You dont say how the airports connect to territories, could u clear that up?

theres a poll, if people want them to either - link to other airports, or have an ability to bombard other airports,
i think link is best,

bryguy wrote:You could probably lower the height by a good 50 pixels, cause those 50 pixels are basically unused space

yeah, minor problem, easily fixed

bryguy wrote:maybe blend the images together?

i blended the bottom 2 pics, and planning on blending the london eye pic with the others,

bryguy wrote:Maybe try a solid color with things like big ben in the background?

how do you mean, i used a "screen" layer on top of the picture layer and set the transparency high, i can always alter that,
but are you say that i should not fade the pictures?

bryguy wrote:The bonus' look a little high for some places, like the yellow continent, maybe change it to a 3?

on the to-do

bryguy wrote:Also, could you remove the territory lines from the thingy showing what continent has how many?

i will add that to the to-do

thanks for the suggs and comments ;)

Continent Names

what do people think of these cont names:

Orange cont. ---------West
Green cont. ----------North
Yellow cont. ----------North-East
Red cont. -------------South-East
Bluey purple cont. ----South

those names are boring, thats why i left them out

those names don't do anything for me, is that what londoners refer to those areas as ?

what about if instead of doing all of london you did central london, central london map.
put in the parks, major railway stations, specialist centres such as 'the city' or trafalgar square and of course the river thames.

zone 1 of the underground

ask people anywhere in the world to name places in london and they won't name the places on that map. they will however say things like westminster, waterloo, hyde park, kings cross station (and many others from monopoly) & the city (financial types might name that first). it is the inner city, the traditional city, that we think of.

i suppose its 'coz me and kemmler live in englnad - kemmler in london, me not in london, visit a lot, but i dont think that that crossed our mind..because we wouldnt really think of that, we've heard of those places, but thats because we live in england (what i said before)

im not acctually sure if other people from england o the UK will have heard of them though,

i think your idea is good, i'll try and develop that

Being from Hillingdon I would feel insulted if a london map didnt have hillingon on it. Like it though

For the love of God can we please have a map that comes out without a complicated sub system, or a loopy railway, or any crazy "ability" maps. What happened to coming out with maps where you you dont have to squinch your eyes to read all the instructions or dont want to play in the first place because of its complexity. Theres something to be said about simplicity like the original maps on CC we have all come to love

I think a city map needs to capture the spirit of the city moreso than just a regular geographical map. Right now it doesn't have that.

maybe put landmarks up? I'm not sure if theres space for that.

I like the straightforward gameplay though.

I guess you're referring to the airports & the bombardments? I kind of agree with you, and don't think on a map this small we need those gimmicks. I think if this map gets the graphic touches it needs, it could be one of the greats on the site. I think most players prefer straightforward gameplay.

exactly my feeling.

I can't stand any maps with special rules, that's why we want a nice and simple london map. airports is a far as it'll go.

well i like the map. Its easy to distinguish between continents and is fairly simple gameplay-wise. The only reason I wouldnt play it is if we (hillingdon) werent on it

greenoaks thinks that it would be better having a map of central london, with tourist attractions that people know
