is anyone on CC from Scotland, i am anyway.

UK will do fine to because i want to Discuss Scottish Independence.

i am a fan of The SNP

if you dont know what there about heres a little from our friend Wikipedia

The SNP was formed in 1934 from the merger of the National Party of Scotland and the Scottish Party. The SNP first won a parliamentary seat at the Motherwell by-election in 1945

Alexander Elliot Anderson Salmond, known as Alex Salmond (born December 31, 1954, Linlithgow), is the First Minister of Scotland, heading a minority government.

He is leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP), Member of Parliament for the constituency of Banff and Buchan, and the Member of the Scottish Parliament for Gordon. He is currently serving his second term as leader of the SNP, taking over from John Swinney. He had previously been leader between 1990 and 2000.

The SNP won the 2007 Scottish Parliament election, with 47 seats - one seat ahead of their nearest rivals, the Scottish Labour Party. On 16 May 2007, Alex Salmond was nominated successfully to become First Minister, heading a minority SNP administration

I know that Scotsmen do not like being called anything other than Scots, Just like the Irish don't like being called British, even by mistake. But, Scotland is as much a part of the UK as Texas is a part of the US and it has been that way for a lot longer than the US has been a country.

Sorry if that upsets you, but the reallity is what it is.

Wasn't England the one who started it in the first place?

dont see why wee cant all be independent and just have the united kingdoms,im sure we would all still get along fine, and with the extra the english have to pay in tax to keep there northern brothers happy, they would probably be a lot better off as well, dont get me wrong i love the english ,i couldnt ask for better neigbours.

Being half english, half scottish, I dont really support independance of any of the united kingdom, I think any without the rest would have a struggle economicly, and think of the tension it would create between the peoples.

Ah well, i dont see it happening in the near future though, too much controversy and too much red tape.

The treaty that joined the two kingdoms in 1707 was a joint treaty signed by both parliaments. England and Scotland had shared a monarch ( a Scottish monarch) for 100 hundred years. So the Scots can blame the English all they like but the fact remains that the Scottish signed the treaty voluntarily.

If Scotland really thinks it will better off on its own, why do numerous Scots keep coming south of the border looking for work?

United we stand, divided we fall.

NUMBER ONE

no one said Scotland didn't sign the treaty(The Act Of The Union) voluntary.
the scottish people didnt decide it was the Nobles.
and if we didn't scotland would have been destroyed with at the time the worlds greatest army
and a few bribes between the Nobles didn't do the no bvoters much good

NUMBER TWO
you talk about Scots looking for work in england.
maybe if a westminister government never closed the pits and iron works they would of still been trades to work in.
2005 45000 english moved to Scotland
1945 the level of english migration to Scotland rose by 84%

Yeah and if we all become independent we'll be the legitimate succesors to the UK so we'll still have a few bases over in scotland, I would love England and Scotland to be independent but i can't see that happening.

we have a British Army and i have a British passport. i was born in England, my family were all born in Glasgow. i support Scotland and still sing "God save the Queen". if there was independence, England ,Scotland,Wales and Northern Ireland would have less muscle in Brussells. England could probably stand politically but the rest i would fear for. Scotland a country of only about 5 million people would be a very small country in the European community with all the Eastern block countries entering the EC.

if there was a break up maybe Scotland could win the Eurovision song contest. they would get more votes than the UK entry.

I agree that Scotland should be independant, but what about Ireland here people?!?!?! Being mostly Irish, of course I would be more in favor of Ireland than Scotland, but I think that the issue in Ireland is much more pressing than anything going on in Scotland...maybe that's just me. Why shouldn't everyone get to be independant?
