Lose Feedback or Refund My Premium

Postby hairingtons on Fri Mar 14, 2008 5:44 am

A recent game I played against someone who is a worse loser than myself. Long story short: He complained every time i didnt attack the 3rd player in the game. Tried to manipulate me and attacked me to 'punish' me when i didnt do things he wanted.

Obviously I dont stand for that and attack him back. A lot.

Result is we both lose. Im not fussed about that. But then he leaves a negative. i know he only left it because things didnt go his way.

I leave a negative. BUT then its deleted 'cos i mention his feedback within mine. so its classed as retaliatory. Very loose and crappy definition. So now, my negative wont appear in his feedback brackets. It can only be a neutral. Again very shit. As i said to Lack - i get three attempts at getting my PIN number right on my debit card! But only one to get feedback right on CC.

So i leave a bloody neutral. in which i say ' this is a negative, i had a negative experience'.

because i said that, they delete it again! so im basically being forced to give the guy a neutral. im being dictated to, s to what i can and cant say in a feedback function thats supposed to be there to facilitate the CC population in letting people know what experience you had with a player.

Ive mailed Lack again, as the moderators can only work within the rules they are given.

But, either i get to leave the feedback i want to leave, feedback is changed or removed from the game...or i want a refund on my premium and i'll leave the game.

well a) they wont refund your premium
b) you prolly shouldnt bother lack with something as trivial as this.
c) you can edit your neg feedback and re-submit it
word it like
person x was a bad player, tactically didnt know the game, he suicided on me when i didnt do what i want. overall a bad experience,

that ^^^ or something worded similar would be fine.

I've been around CC for a long time, and pay for it, if i can contribute to CC and Lack in positive ways, as i have in the past, then I can certainly ask him to sort something like this out.

(seems the Mods can't. there's no other place to go)

Yeah I did edit the feedback. but its only gonna be neutral. part of the problem.

Being around here for a long time (277 complete games/184 posts) you should be aware that referring to someone else's neg in the negative feedback you're leaving tends to make it retalitory and that the HELP tab at the top of this page sends you to a new page where you can scroll down and submit an e-ticket instead of bitchin' about it on the forums.

Btw, the neg you received for deadbeating is inaccurate, since you were a poor sport for not bothering to take your last two turns but not a deadbeat, as you were never kicked out of that game for missing turns. Funny thing is the guy who gave you that neg also received one for missing just one turn in a game.

fucking hell, everyone's a hero eh.

piss off ovo you retard. for a start, you are refering to the wrong game shithead.

second, ive raised it on the forums 'cos the moderators have told me there is nothing they can do , even if they did see my concern, because they can only moderate within the rules. so imtrying to bring it to the attention of higher authoritys = the CC players and Lack.

f*ck knows why you refer to how many games ive played? presumably questioning that i have in fact been around a long time. not everyone plays games online all the time dickhead. ive been here since march 06.

and yes i know where the eticket thing is thanks fuckface. ive used it. thats why im now posting here.

what was the point in your reply? no point was there.

Wow, this is definitely the way to go about it.
I give you 2 thumbs up for the approach, and I can't wait for this to be moved to flame wars, where Lack hardly ventures, that way your point is made clear to all.

I'm sure Lack as well feels quite strongly for you, having PM'd him multiple times as you suggest, and since you've done this, as well as bothering his moderators, why don't you simply give it a rest, because I'm 100% sure that lack will not EVER be refunding your premium.

You need to calm down hairingtons.

Once calm, sit and work out a strategy. It will come to you.

Shit happens, such is the way of things, however, you will do yourself, and anyone else with a problem about these issues, no good by kicking off.

You are not alone, so don't feel isolated and angry, take comfort that there are many with the same attitude. These things take time, like the water dripping on the rock, in the end the water will break the rock.

out of curiousity, did you ask for his feedback to be removed, either by the mods or himself? you guys started out that game getting along great.

fruitcake's reply was very relaxing. i feel like i just did yoga. i like that.

If a deleted retaliatory feedback is edited to not sound retaliatory, we reinstate it as neutral when we suspect the underlying motivation is at least partially retaliatory. This is a compromise between allowing such feedbacks and keeping them deleted.

Obviously the system isn't perfect and the moderators are often put in a position where no matter what they do someone will be pissed off. Especially when some people take their feedback WAY too seriously.

Perhaps we should do what eBay does and refuse to moderate feedback?

Either that or people can just chill the hell out. For chrissakes! Is it really that important? On things like ebay it sure as hell is because it can cost you money. Here? Really?

I've been bummed about feedback only once, when some a-hole left me the most asinine feedback that only made him look like more of a doosh than I could have if I tried. Unfortunately, it was also not in compliance with feedback so it got deleted. That was unfortunate because I wore that negative like a badge of honor.

I think I side with most here. Freaking get over it.

I try to moderate my own feedback. Owenshooter recommended it, so I did it, and BINGO...Neg B Gone! Just don't be an asshole and you won't get a Neg.

I start attacking people to try to force them into attacking someone that needs to be attacked, I don't see the problem in this. But I would be tempted to leave a Neg on you too, if you all of a sudden just started only attacking me when you should have been focussing your attacks on someone you knew was going to win the game.

Hairingtons, I made it very clear in the Reason for Deletion, that ALL you had to do was remove that first line and it would be reinstated, once you notified us it had been done.

Keep the flames out of here Hairingtons, unless you want it moved to Flame Wars.

Yes. Yes you should.

I hereby pledge my support to the "No more moderating feedback" cause. Too long has this site's moderation team been hamstringed by feedback bickering and people whinging because they have no sense of humour, it is time for us to throw off the chains and shackles of feedback-whiner's long obsolete tyranny.

Who's with me?

wicked - i know you made it clear. but why should i have to delete the word 'negative' from my feedback because YOU or other mods think it shouldnt be there?

its my feedback, i had a negative experience with a plyer, but because you deem that ive retaliated i cant say i had a negative experience. its just wrong.

basically, because he posted the feedback first, mine was always going to be retaliatory to some degree. no matter what i said! its pathetic.

but the fact is, i would have left a negtive for him whether he left it or not. but now i cant. cos he posted first. great system.

Lack - you simply can not implement a feedback system that you moderate and control so some people can post things and others cant .. AND THEN come out with a statement like 'some people take feedback way too seriously'.

you either have totally open feedback or you sack it.

fwblb - no i didnt ask for his feedback to be removed. i simply went to leave my own. when i posted it i referred to his feedback , but not in the way i was saying 'you left me feedback so im leaving this'. . . it was something like 'how can you say in your feedback...'

hardly retaliatory. i was simply using it as a point of reference. he was talking bullshit. but can say what he likes apparently while i cant use the word negative.

we did start out getting along fine yes. but he didnt like it when i didnt do what he wanted. and took out my armys defending my borders near him. obviously i hit back. he doesnt like it. and moans. and moans.

I didn't say you couldn't say it was a negative experience. I said take out the first line that said it was a negative feedback. That's all. You lost the privilege to leave him a negative once your first one was so obviously retaliatory, so you can't classify it as one. It'll be obvious to all who read that you consider it a negative.

The fact that you specifically responded to and referred to his feedback in yours for him makes it retaliatory, nothing else. Time you left it doesn't matter at all. Feedback should be standalone, and not dependent on, or in reference to, anything in his feedback to you.

But we've already told you all this. I understand you want to complain; that's human nature. Go ahead, but understand those two key points.

Maybe it's because I'm new...but I'm confused about something...

Why does feedback matter?

And why does it even exist in the first place?

Some people like the cute numbers. Your score can go up and down but your feedback accumulates. Getting good feedback is like getting a cupcake in your lunch. Getting bad feedback ... well I've never gotten bad feedback so I can't say. Ideally it can warn you about possible deadbeaters or people who play well with other teammates. Or it can just be a way idiots prove to the world who they are. Such is life.

How can i both take out the line that says its negative and yet still say it was negative???? its a negative feedback cos it was a negative experience.

the feedback is already a lie, cos you have it as neutral, when its not. and you'd have me lie further.

And you should understand this: all negative feedback will always be retaliatory. No way around it. Most of the time it will retaliate to something in the game or the game chat. So to then allow people to complain because a feedback message is retaliatory is a paradox anyway.

I wouldnt have ever had to complain, would I, if my negative for him was not deleted. And why, for god sake, should i not be able to refer to his feedback? it's just non sensical. If his feedback is refering to the game, its part of the game. so why shouldnt i refer to it?

And the last feedback i left was, by your definition, 'stand alone'. yet you still delete it because i used the word negative. but ive already told you this. and the outcome is the same.
