If you could meet ANY 1 person in history, who and why?

:-k

Consider all periods in history.

Wouldn't it be great to hang out with Jim Morrison and Jesus?

Or Einstein and Socrates? Although perhaps these 2 would make me feel feel like even more of an idiot.

Tough call, as I am torn between Teddy Roosevelt, George Washington, and Alexander the Great.

And I think you forgot both halves.

Anyways,

Teddy Roosevelt- Just to get to know him as a person
George Washington- Same thing really
Alexander the Great- Find out how he came up with his strategies.

I've thought long and hard on this, and I decided on nobody. Wouldn't it be really awkward after the initial "Wow, it's <figure from history>"? I frankly wouldn't know what to say. I wouldn't mind shaking hands with Paul Morphy though. At least one American chess player wasn't a total tool box.

in china wouldn't they just call it checkers.

while the square board version would be known as barbaric white man checkers.

that depends if they were referring to the game known simply as 'checkers' or the totally different game called 'chinese checkers'

you might want to go check out the difference between the two some day

I would meet Arnold Schwarzenegger.

My ideal day with him would be to wake up early and cook a full English Breakfast together, then we'd go drive around in a big Humvee for a few hours, maybe stop around lunchtime and browse through some record stores and grab a bite to eat or something; then later we'd set up a BBQ on a beach somewhere and drink some gin until it got really late and we fell asleep on the sand. Man... that'd be awesome.

ah good old wiki....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_checkers

Despite being called "Chinese checkers," this game does not actually originate from China or elsewhere in Asia. It is also not a variation on checkers or xiangqi (also known as "Chinese chess"). Instead, the name originated in the United States, when an American tried to make the game sound more exotic, and the game itself was invented in Germany in 1893 under the name Stern-Halma, as a variation on the older game of Halma.[1] The "Stern" in "Stern-Halma" refers to the fact that the board is star-shaped rather than square as in the game of Halma. The game was mostly introduced to Chinese-speaking regions by the Japanese.[1]

well it would have to be King Billy(William III), Henry VIII,Henry V and Queen Elizabeth. all for their great fights in History(i know Elizabeth was not actually there, but she was worth a tear) except Henry VIII. him for the simple reason to get pissed at one of his banquets.

Adam and Eve, so I could finally blame someone for the knuckle grazed dickheads there are about.

Socrates, so I could give him a piece of my mind, seeing as it was while trying to study him at school my Classical Philosophy teacher used to throw the blackboard cleaner with uncanny accuracy at my head.

King Herod and Pontius Pilate, just to find out what really went on.

John Paul Getty 1st, to see if he really was as mean as apocryphal tales tell.

Jakob Fugger, just to see how supremely rich he truly was. The same for Alan (Rufus) the Red.

Nelson, so I could shake him by the hand for giving the frenchies a serious kicking.

My Irish poet Great Grandfather, so he could teach me how to write 'proper like', and not the usual rhyming ditties I chuck out.

Something of an eclectic list.

Apologies for more than one, but I truly could decide which of these would come top.

Alexander the Great - 'Bottom's up!'

Joan of Ark - 'You're a hottie Joan'

Ned Kelly - 'Hang in there mate!'

King Tut - 'What do you want to be when you grow up?'

Bob Marley 'Have you considered a will?'

Marcus Aurelius. because his Meditations is the book i've read the most times in my life and has had the biggest impact. read one meditation a day, to start your day. then think on it all day long. if you want to be a great leader, or know anything about leadership, it's a book you must know.

and remember how Tyler Durden said if he could fight anyone, he'd fight Shatner? Well I'd like to fight Patton. General George Patton. I bet he was a tough son of a bitch, but i could take him. we could be the same age, too.
have you ever seen an idealist with grey hairs on his head?
or successful men who keep in touch with unsuccessful friends?
you only think you did
i could have sworn i saw it too
but as it turns out it was just a clever ad for cigarettes.
