Never heard of George Galloway until I was visiting London and he was eating right next to us at a restaurant in Brick Lane. Thankfully, our hosts were aware and not shy and he turned out to be quite a pleasant chap. Here he is trying to get with our women:

yes I am not sure i like the fella but i generally like what he says and how he says it!

The full version with the back and forth with the US senators is even better. (i'll see if i can find it.)
the whole trip to Washington was vintage; with him calling people 'poppinjays' and 'lickspittals'! and then demolishing all comers like a Glaswegian street fighter taking on highly trained American pugilists; breaking their fists on his battle-hardened crown.

There's no doubt that George Galloway is a talented and convincing speaker.
He lost a lot of credibility in my eyes though with those cringe worthy cat antics on Big Brother - what was he thinking??

Not if you live in London, or aren't white, or care about the environment or earn under 60K a year etc. etc. etc.

Regarding Halloway, he's a slimy media tart who'll do anything to grab the headlines, but kudos for sticking up for what he believes in. The senate thing was classic.

Apologies to all you 'Gorgeous' George Galloway supporters, but I think he is a self important, self righteous, smug, self satisfied arse.

Some seem to have short memories of his meeting with Saddam Hussein where he said "I salute your courage, your strength, your indefatigability." ... This was in 1994 mind you, when evidence existed of atrocities being committed on various Iraqi people by the erstwhile dictator....one example being the 5,000 killed immediately and the 12,000 dieing later in the Iraqi regime's chemical attack on the Kurdish city of Halabja in 1988. When 'Gorgeous' George was tackled about this in the high Court his response was "How dare you"

You seem to find amusing and admirable his attacks on the Senate questions at his hearing, but you fail to see the seriousness of his position. Despite a performance full of bluster and rhetorical flourishes, he was pinned down by persistent questioning over his business relationship with Fawaz Zureikat, the chairman of the Mariam Appeal - set up to assist a four-year-old Iraqi girl suffering from leukaemia. He NEVER answered those questions fully!!!

Time and again, Mr Levin questioned him, requesting wearily that he deliver a straight answer to a straight question. But Mr Galloway could, or would not.

Under repeated questioning, Mr Galloway conceded that Mr Zureikat did have extensive business dealings with the Saddam regime but, challenged over whether his friend’s generous contributions to the Mariam Appeal - £900,000 by his own previous assessments - could have come from the sale of oil, he stonewalled.

Urged to say if he would repay the cash if it could be proved to have come from such a source, he again ducked the question. Mr Galloway first met Mr Zureikat, a Jordanian businessman, through his now-estranged wife Amineh Abu-Zayyad, who had attended the same university in Jordan. The men became friends and set up the Mariam Appeal in 1998.

All of the above is in the public arena.

One assumes you would find distastful the idea that a credible and worthy cause was hijacked for personal reasons and benefit...judging by some responses here one has to wonder.

Now he may be amusing, and he may well be one of the best players to the crowd there is. I, for one, prefer to look at solid record, and, in my opinion, this man is not one I would trust under any circumstances.

However, for a laugh you may want to view the following:

Oh he most certainly is a wanker...(there are a few in politics i hear) but the viewing is most entertaining and he tends to use his vain self belief against even bigger wankers.
