Should there be a standard # of points we win or lose when we play a game?

HOW DO POINTS AWARDED AT THE END OF THE GAMES GET DECIDED?

Postby gfcjohnny on Thu Feb 21, 2008 3:01 pm

Since I've always paid little mind to the point totals taken or given at the end of a game, I don't know the answer, but I just had a single 100-point loss in a game which shocked me at its size since whenever I win or lose, the most a person generally loses is 18-32 points.
Can somebody explain it to me, please. I'm not really happy to lose a 100 points in one shot when there is no description of the risk before I enter a game. And if I can WIN hundreds of points at a time, how come I never have?

You were playing someone who only had 150 points before the game.

Losers Score * 20 / Winners Score = Points Taken

1200 * 20 / 150 = 160

Luckily there's a catch in there that limits the points taken to 100.

This is so good people with many points don't pick on little people with none - because if you had won, you would've only gotten 3 points from him.

It was actually possible to reach 0 points at one point, it was even possible to get into negatives, it was changed damn fast after someone had pointed it out, though, luckily before someone managed to do it. With negative points you would have gained points for losing, imagine that...

Yep - old simtom really was quite a clever wee bugger. He got within about 20 points before lack panicked. He only just panicked quickly enough! I believe simtom got to be not such a bad player after that - haven't seen him in a while

What was the old system like?

Under this system I'd be really hard to hit zero points (you'd need to face someone with only 40 points in order to lose anything from a game), but impossible to go negative.

team game takes the average so if your playing with say 2 colonels its possible to lose massive points even if you have very few

The more you post in CAPS, the less points you get. That's how it works.
