The question of whether or not I want hot dogs or hamburgers for dinner.

Of course they would solve it by telling you what you want to eat.

Yeah, but on a human level that doesn't actually change what I want. Sure, they can tell me that I "want" burgers, but that doesn't make it so.

A fascist government can point at the sky and say "It's red." Doesn't change that it's actually blue though.

You won't be saying that once we use electroshock therapy on you.

And lock you up with hecter!

I actually converted around page 198. Unfortunately, I converted to satanism.

Give me all the electroshock you want. I may say that the sky is red too, but it still doesn't change the fact that it is blue.

And that's why fascism doesn't work. Mankind can only take obvious, blatant lies like that for so long before a massive group rises out of the crowd and hammers down on you with guns and clubs, all shouting as one "The Sky Is Blue!"

maybe...but you're forgetting the true ideology of fascism. just because people say fascism doesn't work is based on the fact that it hasn't persevered the onsets of revolution. why? well if life has taught me anything, it's to learn from my own mistakes as well as others. to create a truly functional and long lasting fascist society, you have to observe the flaws of others. it all depends on how the foundation is laid. you would have to start with the infants and children, creating a completely rock solid culture based on the idea that the people are living in a succesful system, and therefore do not have a reason to uprise. instead of controlling the people by fear, control their environment and their mentality so they are supporting and contributing to the state, rather than rebelling. just my ideas. props to whoever reads this whole thing.

I know this was recently bumped, but I just want to say this.

If the government was afraid of the people, that means that the government will start killing mass amounts of people, making the people scared of the government, and the government still afraid of the people.

One controls the other

exactly, which is why you have create that foundation mentality of cooperating with the state. the government should control the people, and the people should be motivated and dedicated toward valor, country, family, and service to the state. there shouldnt be fear in the people because they were educated to see and know the truth: their system works better than the others.

If the government was truly afraid of its people, it wouldn't dare.

then whats the point of a government that exists in fear of its own people? that would never work. a government (no matter what they claim) will always have the people in check. even if certain representatives and legislations are pussywhipped by their voters, somewhere along the chain of command the so called fear is no longer there. sure people disapprove of certain leaders, but when will you actually see a complete overthrow of the government who claims to be afraid of its people? i think never. its usually the ones who have the people living in fear who are overthrown.

I don't understand what you're trying to say. I do see a lot of assertions that are either incorrect or irrelevant, however.

Are you sure about that? Paranoid governments are the worst kind, just look at Lenin's government just after the revolution. It was paranoid, and afraid it was overthrown, it killed a lot of people (though not as many people as Stalin, but still a lot of people).

it wouldn't solve the dichotomy of free will vs. predestination.

fucker.
have you ever seen an idealist with grey hairs on his head?
or successful men who keep in touch with unsuccessful friends?
you only think you did
i could have sworn i saw it too
but as it turns out it was just a clever ad for cigarettes.
