Fair neutral map for 1 vs. 1 play

Postby flexmaster33 on Wed Feb 20, 2008 11:19 am

Hi everyone...I'm running the college basketball season and we are into the tournament phase where neutral courts are being used this time for the tournament games. I went with Classic thinking that most people are familiar with it, but it seems like a lot of games are decided by the drop on that map. It stinks to play a full season and lose because your opponent gets a nice drop in the playoff game.

Any ideas for better maps to make for a fair 1 vs. 1 game?

the people involved don't have any ideas? that is really interesting.. i tend to think that most 1v1 games are determined by the drop, so i avoid them... can't wait to see what people that play 1v1 games say!!!-0

if u use classic make sure forts are chained...takes a bit away from the drop
actually chained forts in general do that
classic would be the fairest as territory count is the best.
though alot of 1v1 is decided by drop..it can be combatted TO A DEGREE by the settings you use

1v1 is decided by Drop on most maps...

But for Fuedal or AOR etc - it's decided by the dice...

Any game of Capital Risk is not determined by the drop.

world 2.1 is the most fair by far... strategy makes up the highest percentage, and it doesnt take a genius to figure out the map...its straight forward

you can win a few bad rounds of bad dice, if you play very well... and drops are hardly ever very one sided.. not to say it cant happen

i disagree...2.1 though the drop is bigger..someone can drop quite easily with a bonus and then gain a larger bonus in 1 or 2 rounds.. hence im not a fna of it 1v1
but if u know how to play aor's/feudal then the dice will generally determine the outcome

Classic/British Isles/Benelux/San Fran/anything with 42-44 terits. No cards, chained or adj. I find that to be the best for removing as much luck as possible. Each player starts with 4 to deploy and would have to take 3 from their opponent to drop them down to 11 terits.

Is this on option on CC? If it is, I didn't realize it.

The best solution for good 2 player maps would be being able to create 2 player ONLY maps. With all the XML features the foundry have to play with maps could be made to support 2 players with an even start. These could be locked that only 2 player games can be made with them :)
What do you know about map making, bitch?

I found Tamriel to be pretty tolerable for 1on1 games in the Swedish Championships ( I count as an honorary Swede).
