Soooo.....if you play 20, win 4, and lose 16, how do you really come out ahead in that? That's only a 20% winning percentage. Sooner or later that is going to come back to bite you I would think.

Its 8 player games. winning 20% of the time in 8 player games is really difficult. you usually would have a 12.5% chance of winning an 8 player game, so winning 20% would be good, causing your score to rise quite a bit if you start out low.

Solution is incredible simple  - just play against weaker players with same or higher score and against players with higher score who are not better than you...

only works if you are already low on points, also works better if the games you win and lose only have high rankers in.

pick an obscure map (the more complicated the better) and choose some obscure settings (i.e. FoW, adjacent etc), and play them over and over until you get really really good at it.

Haha, that's what I do.

8-player foggy unlimited no cards AoM, if anyone's interested. There's almost a 20% chance that players joining will be deadbeats, so it helps my odds a lot.

Deadbeats are never fun - but they are easy points - really depends what you want.

My current settings are Waterloo, no cards chained, FoW, 1v1 btw - which regardless of opponent is always fun (you either have a close-fought battle or you get to do obscene things on turn 3or4 :) )

Previously they have been AoM 1v1, no cards adj (when the map was first quenched), BoA 1v1 no cards chained FoW, BJ - same, SS - same.

If you start with em 1200 points for each game I won 100-150 points. each game i lost <20 points. so making easy numbers win 4 I would have 1600 points - 300 points or so you end up gaining 100 points. somehow i was able to get to 1500 points. I think it was because I one other 1 v 1 classic games so. Even so it still got me to Sergeant so i'm happy. :D
