Irony at its greatest...

Postby SolidLuigi on Fri Feb 15, 2008 6:09 pm

...or is this just extreme cruelty by the person/people who name phobia's?

Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia- Fear of long words.

Did the people who named this think of the repercussions of making it a ridiculously long word?????

Let's say I have this phobia and you are in a convo with me:

You: "Hey Luigi, what's the name of that phobia you are afflicted with?"
Me: "Oh it's Hippopo...... AUUUGHHHHH OH MY GOD MAKE IT STOP!!!" all said as I am crying uncontrollably and defecating all over myself from the intense fear.

What do you think?
(I know, who really cares right? Just a funny situation I thought of while going through the phobia list http://www.phobialist.com/ )[/b]

It's actually just Hippomonstrosesquippedaliophobia, not Hippotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia; you added a syllable.

Also, according to New Scientist magazine, aibohphobia is the irrational fear of palindromes.

Anglophobia- Fear of England or English culture, etc.

Well, now I know what it is called.
