Post Game Team Chat Revelation

Postby Triforce on Wed Sep 27, 2006 12:56 am

Ever Get Totally Slaughtered Out Of Nowhere In A Team Match You Thought You Were Winning? I Have. Twice Now. I'm New So Two Games Is Still A Lot. But, Anyway, I Thought It Would Be Interesting If The Team Chat(s) Of The Opposing Team(s) Were Revealed After A Winner Was Decided. I Figure This, On Top Of Other Things That I Havn't Thought Of, If Implemented, Would Give Newer Players Such As Myself A Deeper Insight Into The Strategy And Level Of Cooperation Nessecary To Win Games And, Thus, Rise Through The Ranks And Eventually Contend The Very Elders From Whom They Derived Portions Of Their Newfound Skill. It's Also Just An Awesome Idea.

Cheers, Triforce.

Why Do You Have To Capitalize The First Letter Of Every Word?

Besides, you can just look at the game log to see what they are doing in their moves, and learn from that. I don't like the idea of game chat being revealed. That should remain private.

However, Game Log 2.0 is coming in an update sometime and that will include much more in the game log than their currently is so that you can see everything the other player/team does.

actually in a good portioin of the game chat I am a shitty sport.. I mock ridicule and often times make fun of the other team. .things I wouldnt do if they could read it.. I dont like the idea of them being able to read it after the game.

I'm agree. And I've seen what you write. It's fun talking smack that the other team can't read.
I was a major back when 1600 was major. Now that I'm back, I get to easily win a bunch of games to get my rank. Thank the 'tards here who suck at this game.

I would lose a few positive comments if the chat was revealed...

see the player's team chat after the game *rejected*

Postby mr. incrediball on Wed Dec 20, 2006 4:06 pm

how many of you have seen suspected multi's and thought "we'd all know they'd be multi's if we knew they weren't actually talking to each other"

so, how about once the game is finished, the team chat is shown for everyone to see!

pros:

1)helps unmask multis

2)you can learn valuable lessons from looking at the way other people cooperate

3)there could be some really interesting stuff people have said and you'll never see it because they only said it to 1 or 2 other people.

cons (just to be fair)

1)opponents can find out your style of strategy by looking at past games

so, that's what i think, wadda you guys think?

you only get hidden team chat during a team game.

In singles - theres no team chat. Nice idea - but no cigar!

If it is a multi why would they [he/she] even be using the chat? I would find it easier just to talk to myself.

First of all, this is no way will find multis. Many converse with their partners via IM/MSN/whatever-M. Second, who would want their private chats publicized? I doubt many would. Thirdly, you can learn strategy by watching/playing the game at hand.

Even if this was done I don't see how it would unmask multis...I have a partner that I've played 60 or 70 games with. Most of the time we don't even talk anymore except to exchange hellos. After 20 or 30 games on the same map you learn how your partner plays. They communicate what they want you to do next by where they place their armies and fortifications.

In games with other partners it would just let the other team know what a dipstick I am...

"oops...mis-deploy. Sorry about that...."

or deep thoughts like

"fkn dice"

Not exactly my shining moment.

this could be a cool option.. like whether or not to muck your cards in poker automatically, it could be like a muck or show team chat option.

That was his entire point.

As others have said, it wouldn't work anyway because not everyone uses the team chat. And a lot of multis don't play team games (though some do!) so it wouldn't show anything in most cases.

I'll try again

Postby Shai on Thu Jan 18, 2007 3:49 pm

I already suggested this but it evaporated
How bout we give the option to view the whole game chat after the game?
Yes, it would reveal strategies, but aren't we here to teach and better ourselves?
It would be great to see what the other teams were discussing...
