This may be hard to implement. I, for example, am hosting European Wars. In that tournament, there are many maps being played on. 27, to be exact. How could us Organizers put that into a title of a thread? It can only hold so many characters.

Knight2254 wrote:This list could also show the status of the tournament (e.g. awaiting players, completed, in progress) and could even link to a bracket (a la NCAA 64 tournament style) to see how it is going.

This is what the different forums are for. In the Create/Join a Tournament forum, only tournaments that are awaiting players are in there. If you want to join a tournament, go there. In the Ongoing forum, only tournaments that are in progress are in there. If you're looking for a tournament that you're in, go there. In the Completed, only tournaments that have completed are in there. If you want to see who won a tournament you were in is, then this is the place to go.

Knight2254 wrote:That, in a nutshell, is what I meant with my previous post. It is difficult to find out who is still in the tournament, if it's going or needs people, without reading a million threads. You could still advertise in the threads but a nice place where it's organized in a more easy to read manner would make it much more appealing to me.

I agree, sometimes it is hard to see who is eliminated and who isn't. But if Organizers use a point system and update it frequently (Like every 4 days or so) then it shouldn't be too hard, just look to see who has the most points.

Knight2254 wrote:EDIT: Wow, I didn't even know that other ongoing page existed. Which, perhaps, it not being clearly evident it was there is another issue all to itself.

It's the same as all of the other forums. The page selection is in the same spot, so I don't really see it as a problem.

If anyone sees something that maybe contradicts what I've said here, please share.

let me get this straight... due to less people visiting another section of CC, you put a thread up in here, to find out how just how active it is? whaaaa? that makes no sense to me. maybe you should have put the thread up over there... luckily, i did not put up this poll or it would already be moved...-0

Well.. I see your points, but you did come to us asking why the activity in the thread is down. You can sit here and argue with me if you want, and that's fine, but it is the answer you were looking for.

And for the 27 maps question, you could put in "various" or something to that affect.

Correction: 1 organizer who seems to "think" the Tournament Forum is dead decided to come in here and ask why. The truth is that the tournament forum is no worse for wear, and if anything is improved from what it used to be, and will continue on that same path.

Note: This is me speaking as an "organizer" and not in my role as "Tournament Director"

A vast majority of the organizers and tournament players are perfectly happy with the activity level in the Tournament Forums.

I'd have to say from my perspective that soundout is way off base with his assessment. I currently count no fewer than 17 tournaments currently forming and another 100+ currently running. What I'm not seeing at the current time is a bunch of tourneys that aren't going anywhere which is what seemed to be there a lot when I first started visiting in August. I think soundout has confused quality and quantity. The tournaments that run now are in general tourneys that are going to be well run and followed up on and not these things like we used to see where somebody would post for sign ups and abandon it or run one round and abandon it. The forum has been cleaned up and soundout has confused that with a lack of interest.

I think the folks over at the tourney forum section do a pretty good job really. While there are only so many different ways you can do a tourney, outside of different themes, i do think there is something out there for most folks.

Like anything, if you shop around enough your going to find something you like playing.

I strongly agree with barterer/Optimus/ and Gilligan. I play in LOTS of tourneys, that's pretty much where I spend most of my CC time and the tournaments organization has only gotten better over the past year, and there really has not been that huge of a drop off in activity whether it be tournaments themselves or CC players. The quality has vastly improved, esp. since rules have been set in place.

i have never played in a tournament. i wanted to get a few games under my belt so i don't embarress myself too much.

as for this poll, up until 3 days ago i never went into the tournament section, or any section for that matter - i use the view posts since last visit option to see what's going on. i will read pretty much anything except the flame wars stuff.

as i am now ready to try out a tournament i visited that forum directly. i found it very easy to navigate & locate the tournaments looking for players. not much for me at this stage as i don't yet play much escalating (only 2 games so far) or 1 v 1 (only 1 game so far) but i will keep looking.

There is a weekly newsletter that Gozar puts out that gives information on current tournaments (both ongoing and taking sign-ups) as well as some upcoming tournaments. Click here to sign up for it.

I will be announcing a new tournament this week that will involve many different maps and settings. Keep checking.

I do think there could be an easier way to show Tournaments but that would require a ladder style site!! But what they have at the moment does it purpose. To's are doing a great job for little to no reward!

But i think it would be kinda neat to have a seperate website for Tournaments where you could find alot of Stats and join Tournies by just clicking on a button. i got a picture in my head but its kinda hard to express it through words LMAO!

And he really is :D It's always pleasure to have him in my tourneys. And a lot of other people who visit tournament forums and... here's a surprise... have time to read through a post or two time to time about new tournaments that have been made. OMG I can't believe it!

People have time to read through this whole thread about tournaments and then whine that they can't read 1 lousy post per thread to see what the tournament is about. And guess what, you don't even have to look for the post - it's the first one on the thread!!! Again, hard to believe, right? Before actually going to the tournament forums, I was always thinking that first people make a thread and say that they join and when there's enough people joined then on page 4 some rando organiser decides to post the details about the tournament *evil sarcastic smirk*

Geez, before posting, think what you know.

And to all those who has never visited tournament section - soundout is not representing all of us and the fact that he is a lazy and can't seem to run his tournaments properly doesn't mean that there aren't people who have imagionation and will to make tournaments properly. And those people always seem to have their tourneys full and running nicely and without problems.

Because you only play freemium low ranks players?
another noob that doesnt know how to read before he post

There are also plenty of other high ranks that play low rank opponents too if you would spend the time and look before you run your mouth.

I wonder who the noob is, because you are actually admitting you play a lot of low ranks, and then what is wrong in my statement?

Your opinion is not wrong simply because it is your opinion, it is wrong because it lacks any factual basis and you consistently ignore all other opinions, which are usually backed by fact, in the blind pursuit of finding someone anywhere who might agree with you. I would suggest you post this in flame wars next. You're likely to find a like minded person there.
