Could someone give me some tips to be a better player

Postby kerntheconkerer on Wed Jan 23, 2008 10:53 pm

Ok I like playing CC but I'm not very good and don't spend forever taking turns. Could people give me overall strategy for 1v1 games, or certain places?
thx

You are, I am sure, a good player. The strategy is pretty simple in this game. Unfortunately, what separates the "good" and "not so good" players is the dice. Some players have good dice rolls, others don't. I honestly think there are cheat codes out there. If you find your opponents rolling a lot of 5's and 6's, there is nothing you can do to get to be a better player. One tip: never attack with less than 3 armies. Wait until the next turn, if necessary.

1vs1 ? Deprive your opponent of any bonuses you can. Keeping Australia means nothing if the other guy is holding Europe.

avoid neutrals unless you are sure it´s a good idea to attack them (e.g. get a continent which is well defended by neutrals or enough of your own units. Break each bonus your opponent gets, try to act on continents where are no neutrals.

When playing 1vs1 always try and take there territories rather than going for your own continent.
Guys I am intentionally lurking. Discuss; Play mafia, it is good.

Download BOB, if they have 15 terrs always try and get them down to 14 as it reduces the armies they have the next turn.

also, if u dont want to go down in that many points, than play someone with a higher score

so say your score is 700, then the higher up the score of the person u play, the less u lose and the more you gain

Yea I already tried, but thanks for the responses I think I may know some basics but it seems like my dice have something with me loosing. But I'll keep trying.

Aye the most important and most overlooked tactic...dare I call it that...is patience.

Prime example...at present I am playing fog of war, classic map with esculating cards. No one seems to be dominating board. I got a card drop of 25 and deployed in nm. I stacked the 20 on top of 6. For some reson I felt i needed to secure more territory then needed. I knocked out an enemy pile of 7 as I am staking out NA.

i should have stopped there and taken the card. A 1 army country for a card per turn Id have another turn in. I would of had a Huge army to destroy someone blindly coming in. In stead By the end of my turn I had like 8 and still needed

For people that think 1v1 is all luck, watch Clive play.

That's the best advice I can give you if you want to get better at 1v1.

Just make sure he doesn't lose the one you watch, because the dice are fixed in those games.

lol right, anyone can lose any game type due to bad dice.

Clive has a 76% win percentage, and 16 of his 19 pages of games are 1v1.
