why didnt you read my post in this thread Blitz-- dissing me like that = )

Scott ..I know you got a problem with me,but this thread is not really about me...Its about snobs who won't play chefs etc..The crown back then was hard to achieve.Only a handful had one.At the time you didnt, but I won't get into that.I'm not a risk snob!...I would have been happy as a private. :)

Its fun watching someone repeatedly condemn players that play the games they like to have fun, and then imply they are somehow a better player or person.

Id much rather have a thousand more players who just played what they wanted to, and kept to themselves, then one more player complaining about them. :D

One more thing... I really dont think you should play so many freestyle games... I think its wrong... You should be playing mostly 6 and 7 player games that are standard... wow, that really just does sound stupid telling you what kinds of games to play doesnt it?

Youre obviously just grandstanding here, and targeting players that happen to enjoy playing with highly successful players. Its kind of sad. Obviously, this will just inspire you more on your crusade to attack those big meany snobs, but thats fine...

It is interesting that most of your games are freestyle that I saw though... little easier to take advantage of all those lucky cooks you are so humbly letting play you... keep up the charity work. Im sure they are all thanking you.

Myself, i will play any cook on this site if they want to play me in a nice little 1v1 on say, speed World 2.1 freestyle, escalating, no fog... ill help you all out just like Sirius is....

If your good at something you dont need to be a snob about it. Thats very bad equiette and really looked down apon. As well as being very unattractive to the opposite sex :)

I actually agree that being a snob is silly. Utterly ridiculous really. Points are a choice as much as anything else in this game. However, calling players that choose to play with the players they enjoy playing with snobs, is equally belittling.

Assuming that just because a player doesnt happen to be playing with many lower ranks because of snobery, and not because thats just who they prefer to play because of the way the game is set up, and because its more enjoyable is just self-righteous babble. If a particular player posts a snobby comment thats one thing, but lumping all higher ranks into the snob category is simply stereotyping. Its easy to get away with since there are a hundred top players, and 30000 players that have much lower ranks... but that doesnt make it right. Its also exasperated, by the fact that the player making the accusations, plays very little cooks, and seems to join last, not in some good will endeavor, but to sap them of points in freestyle games which obviously offer the biggest advantage. Its clearly grandstanding against a minority for some fun.... its not my concern what games he chooses... only that its hypocritical to be launching this silly crusade

As far as assuming what the opposite sex finds attractive....thats just a silly comment... I think its fair to say that some people are attracted to many different things, and I wouldnt be surprised if many find snobbery an attractive quality. Certainly there are men that cant resist a woman that carries a snobby air... you may not respect it, but that has little to do with attraction.

i agree with most of this post but "snobbery" does exist on this site by a very ssmall minority of players not all in the highest ranks either - here are examples which i have experienced since joining this site

players dropping games when i join because of my low rank

players criticising my posts on here because of my low rank - to quote a current colonel "how do you know you are only a private" when i posted on one particular thread.

being placed on ignore reason given when I inquired why "you are a low ranker"

also I am very happy in my current clan (which has no restrictions regarding score in who becomes a member or who we play) but there are a number of clans i can't join or if my clan were to compete against them i can't play because of my score

the other form of snobbery that really gets to me is we are all tarred with the same brush. I play all maps in all settings doesnt really bother me - i have never deadbeated and i never suicided but to quote another current colonel/major in another thread responding to comments by me "players like you always deadbeat or suicide in games"

At the end of the day its every player's choice to an extent who they play and I really have no problem with players who just don't want to play that is their choice and its not snobbery in most instances but the examples i gave above are clearly snobbery to a greater or lesser extent.

Anyway I will continue to play a wide mix of maps and types and players of all skills/ ranks that are willing to play against/ with me (check my active / finished games for further proof of this)
Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

Very well said Rebel...Lets take a look at the clans for example. THOTA only accept players with a certain amount of points into their clan and if you field a player below 1800 points in a clan challene..Well OMG, you've had it. Their players start throwing hissy fits, much like a school girl when you have stolen her barbie doll from her.

At the untouchables clan the council will only accept players on different critea. But we would never refuse a person entry based on how many points they. That indeed would be snobbery!

However, if there is a clan challenge we do have 6 or 7 Major's we can could pull out of the hat for a rumble in the jungle!

Nice post by the way AA-Fitz. most of what you say may indeed have some truth in it. But if you look at the games played by your 100 or so elite. You will find that most of them are escalating or freestyle. And we all know why people play them. I myself hate both types of settings thus never play them. I play risk how it is meant to be played!

Ok,Most of the games I play.I set up...so anyone can join.Although I will join a map of choice if its already going.Who is in the game at the time doesnt bother me.I have no aires or graces.I'll simply play anyone.I prefer freestyle, because its faster.I also play seq.

not to mention the few unsuspecting cooks you seem to like to join and take advantage of.. not snobby at all.

My point is more its none of my business which games you like, and more importantly I and no one else cares... but while youre out clearly skimming some freestyle points, you dont really get to call everyone that happens to like playing with similar ranks snobs with impunity.

Feel free to go through my games and tell me what you think I should be playing by all means, and what kind of a player that makes me. I can take it.

I don't mind who you play. This subject is not really here to Judge people. Its here to provoke thought.
I can't change the way you think. So I won't try.A lot more people have had a positive response to this subject, because good sportsmanship deserves fairplay.
A lot of people have said..Hey I have rank and I'll play anyone.
My thoughts are"Injustices exist everywhere in life and they seem to thrive in any gaming community where points are involved.
.Its everyones business, when they get excluded from games.Just because they don't have the right symbol beside an ID".

wow... 8 pages on the topic of Risk Snobbery... and my name isn't even mentioned once... I am beside myself with utter astonishment...

Am I not the poster child for playing the same map (classic) and the same game type (5-6 player seq escalating)... oh sure, I have friends that have lured me into other maps & other game types... i've even played a few team games... but none of those have maintained any real appeal for me...

So is it to protect precious points?... I have lost upto 23 consecutive games playing my preferred way... that's alot of precious points to lose... lol... but make no mistake about it... i do prefer to win...

But perhaps I am no longer considered to have a high enough score to be a snob... heck, even AAfitz has a higher score than me right now, lol... dang, i gotta say, i miss being on top... where are my fans, the groupies, the Paparazzi? And I thought it was lonely at the top... obscurity does not make better company...

My game choices are determined by these FOUR factors only:

1. I like playing with friends...
especially those that add a fun element to the game chat...

2. I like playing highly skilled opponents...
perfect games if you will... no mistakes, deep strategy... loads of fun, and tough as heck to win...

3. I also enjoy random games...
lower ranks can add an element of dodge-ball to the game, ducking and avoiding being a victim of a shallow strategic thinker... loads of fun, and while easier to win, it is tough to stay level with the points... although often the lack of 1 & 2 above can make these rather dull...

4. I like to play RISK!...
that's right, RISK! and in it's purest form... that means the CLASSIC map, and that means ESCALATING, and Sequential, and Standard (singles)...

So I will say, I do admire players who want to play every map, every variant, and with every skill level... kinda like having a complete rock collection... that's cool... but it does not interest me...

I do get game invites from time to time... and some i accept, and some i don't... usually due to the game format...

So I must ask, is this snobbery?
Well if it is... then I must add just one thing... I am really good at it!

I think we have a little confusion here.
In my view its Risk Snobbery to not want to play lower ranks.Like running scared when a chef joins lol
Game settings do not make you a rIskSn0b
Normally this would happen by setting up all private games.Only inviting like ranked players and excluding anyone else.
Its fine to join private games with friends if you enjoy.
I must emphasize the word "all".
I just took a look at the score board and out of the top ten players(Actually its the top 12..2 of them are cheats so I dont include them.) I have only recently played 3.
So Robinette...Are you a Risk Snob.?
robinette wrote:I also enjoy random games... lower ranks can add an element of dodge-ball to the game, ducking and avoiding being a victim of a shallow strategic thinker... loads of fun, and while easier to win, it is tough to stay level with the points... although often the lack of 1 & 2 above can make these rather dull...
I think no!
Welcome to my topic.
I like playing high ranked opponents too..They are so easy to beat
If a Private won't play a chef...Then he is a Risk Snob.

My way of thinking in terms of this comes from my playing for years at the MSN game Zone where the snobbery was at its highest, except for a few nice folks(including myself)who didnt say no to someone just because they had just come on/discovered the game, now if I played with them and they deadbeated then I noted it and didnt play with them again

I have lots of friends I play with here,I get invites to high ranked games because of my rank and clan I am in, but 90% of my doubles games are public we make it leave it open and play whoever joins no complaints, win some lose some too.

Its a gamble with newcomers,I freak out when I lose to a lower rank I wont lie,,I play hard for my points if I didnt care,if any of us didnt care about the points we wouldnt play it factors in we all know it.
Im no risk snob,I love the game I followed it here when this started 2 years ago we were all newbs here, play on I say
