Forfeit option

Postby Shozan on Sun Jan 06, 2008 12:19 am

I really think there should be a forfeit option. As a non premium member (atm) I find it really frustrating that I got involved in a few games that no one takes their turns in. I wish I had the option to forfeit out of a game, and take the points deduction as a loss. how do others feel about that?

Forfeit should not be possible (especially in 1 v 1)

Heres why:

Anyone who joins a game wants to play a good full one. With the option to forfeit available, everyone will stop when momentum shifts away from them (this will be multiplied 10 fold in 1-1 games)

And second, if people can forfeit right off the bat in a multi player game it gives no warning, at least if people start missing turns the other players in the game can tell that 90% of the time they're going to have to re-adjust their strategy down the road, if theres an immediate drop-out, that situation is gone.

Owen... I got one I think you'll like.

I think there should be a forfeit option.

Then whenever I play a non-premium... I will drag out my turns... and randomly skip some. Not enough to deadbeat... but certainly enough to make the game dddddrrrrraaaaaagggg.

Then the non-premium member will forfeit... to free up a valuable game... and I will get some free points.

Sound like a good strategy?

Mind you... I would never actually do that.

1) Because I hate all these half-cheat crap-ass things people on here do to get more points.

2) Because it's un-sportsman-like.

3) Because it voids the cool... "Jump to Next Available Game" button that I use all the time. I just play the games I have in the order they come up.

That said... I GUARANTEE... if this "forfeit" button is offered... people WILL do what I just stated to get points.

===

I also think if they do want to implement a "forfeit" button... the name should be something like "Complete Quitting Loser" button... or "Whiney Wimpy Runaway Yellow-Belly" button.

but what if the game is sooo bloody obvious you are going to lose? say you have one country left???

i guess if the site owners gould work with yeti_c with BOB there could be a way of saying OK this player is 5x weaker than his opposition. then the forfeit button could pop up.

Then, if you did have one country left, then obviously the other people are not deadbeating, so there is no need to forfeit the game because you would be gone by the next round anyway, so it shouldn't bother you.

I'm sure many cheaters think it takes way too long to collect points
so a forfeit/resign button would be a definite improvement.

sorry, I seem to have misplaced my HTML tags for sarcasm

maybe if you didn't give up so easily, you'd have more than 8 victories to your credit. as i have said before, i have won far more games that i was certain i had lost, than i have games i was certain i had won. you just don't quit. if someone wants my points, they are going to have to find them hidden inside the blood covered envelope containing my last letter to my loved ones...-0

When I first joined, I thought the same thing. But a forfeit option will cause more problems than it would solve. Nothing is perfect, but a simple fix is to get premium.

Seconded, except that I'll have been too busy fighting to write any letters.

forfeiting sucks

but the only way i can see it working is if you use the forfeit button you still lose the points u would have done if you lose.

only problem with that is imagine the multiers

hundreds of points in minutes lol
