If you didn't notice most of the rivers in Washington are flooding. I don't have school today, nor does Index, Sultan, Mt. Vernon, many of the other school districts in Western Washington.

<BUZZ> False! I was born & raised there.

The average rainfall in the Amazon basin is 80 inches. Seattle receives an unremarkable 38 inches of precipitation a year, which is less precipitation than New York City, Atlanta, Houston and most cities of the Eastern Seaboard of the United States!

Seattle's inaccurate worldwide reputation for rain derives from the fact that it is cloudy an average of 226 days per year (vs. 132 in New York City).

We used to joke that the "rainy city" myth was invented so people wouldnt move there from California. It didnt work. :(

Eastern Washington gets almost no rain at all. It's mostly a desert, and we have a rain shadow from the Cascades.

Actually, we did get a lot of rain last week. It was one of the few times this year we got rain, besides in May when we had heavy rainfall, which is extremely rare here.
