Save the Grey Wolf in America

By removing wolves in Idaho, Wyoming and Montana from the list of federally protected endangered species last week, the Bush/Cheney Administration has officially green-lighted state plans to kill as many as 70% of the wolves in Greater Yellowstone and the Northern Rockies.

The announcement opened the door to the elimination of more than a 1,000 wolves by aerial gunning, trapping, poisoning and other lethal methods. It could also close the door on wolf restoration in Oregon, Washington, Colorado and other parts of the gray wolf's historic range.

And with southwest wolf recovery continuing to falter, it's time for a national plan to ensure a lasting future for our wolves.

Folks like you and me can make a huge difference for America's wolves. Here's how: Go online to http://action.defenders.org/ourwolves and urge U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Director Dale Hall to adopt a national wolf recovery plan.

Will you help me convince federal officials to protect our wolves? Send your message online at:

http://action.defenders.org/ourwolves

Thanks for helping!

They're Republicans. If they can't shoot a person, a wild animal is the next best thing. More points are given for animals closer to extinction.

Done. I respect any one wolf much more then I do those humans that need a helicopter and a sniper to take a wolf on.

GFY.

Anyways, I live in Southern Wyoming and never really had wolves in this area, but it is still in my state and I do want to protect them.

... Yeah, I like wolves, but this thread is ignoring the plight of the ranchers who are seeing their cattle hunted and devoured by these predators.

Actually, wolves seldom hunt livestock, and only when there is no other choice. The main problem would be coyotes that attack livestock. I can garuntee you on this one.

Coyotes have made a dramatic population comeback and now can be seen in suburban areas here in Southwest Ohio. My family back home is much more rural and the cats can't go out at night because of the coyotes.

This isn't about coyotes, though... It's about an endangered species.

Juan, you can't seriously not care. And if you truly don't, you're the kind of person I'd never want to meet in real life, because I'd knock you on your ass.

i'll bk up what was said. i spend a lot of time hiking and the such, and i have rarely come across livestock killed by wolves. and when i mean rarely i mean only once...and the cow was probably already sick or injured. ;)
