I've had two romantic flings with Belgians... one French, one Flemish. They were both really charming but over the period of our association, became increasingly disagreeable. The French hated all Flemish, Turks, and North Africans. The Flemish hated all French, Turks, and North Africans. Oh, they also hated Americans (of course). They were hardcore leftists but racist out the yinyang, for sure.

But I cannot judge an entire nation based on these two slovenly, hippie exiles.

Actually, coastal Mississippi is not too bad .. or wasn't prior to Ivan and Katrina
(aka J Buffet land ... ) though I would suggest visiting is between October and April. (and you might get snow in Jan)

Well obviously I was exaggerating... I don't honestly think every Belgian is racist and impolite. But I do think it is an accurate characteristic of Belgians as a whole.

My workmate and I were discussing this the other day. I wouldn't go to Iraq. I might go to Afghanistan. I definitely go to Iran and Haiti. North Korea would be depressing. Colombia would be nice, but I'd be nervous in certain areas. Cartagena, though? Fo shiz!
