It's times such as these, it must really suck to be an atheist.

Why ?
We are born,we live our lives as best we can, we die !
I would imagine it must suck spending all ones life worrying about the supposed next one, what a waste !

RIP George

Why spend all your life preparing for some "other" life. Live the one you've got to the fullest and quit depending on the afterlife for happiness. If there is an afterlife, and you go there, then consider it a bonus. But live for today.

Because your afterlife depends on what you do in this life.

This life = 70 year ave.

Afterlife = eternity

For many, this life will be the "bonus".

Everybody should enjoy this life, everybody should strive to help out their fellow men/women and leave a positive impression. Living a full and good life is the crucial thing not earning brownie points for an afterlife, if one leads to the other than great but it should be nobodies priority.

Well, it doesn't matter now...he's dead...game over.

What MATTERS is how he LIVED his actual life and I would say he lived it pretty well...exactly the way he wanted. He chose to boldly stride through life with his eyes OPEN. Not deluding himself into fantasies and wasting his idle hours with rituals and prayers to non-existent magical creatures, as some do.

No disneyland afterlife jay...only THIS life. Live it, now.

...and have another cigarette in George's honor. ;-)

Because, like, we can't cry because crying is something done only by religious people as they fully understand that the dead doesn't actually mean the end of the person so sadness is not neccesary and f*ck i forgot what I was talking about...

Out of all the comedians that I admired, none could ever had compared to the intelligence and political wit of George Carlin. Despite many people's political and religious differences with George Carlin's beliefs, God did give him the talent to unite us (and enlighten us) in humor and laughter.

Today was a very sad day for me when I heard the news. I truly wanted to just go home and cry, as I felt I had lost a very close friend without ever having met George. It is very hard to believe that he is dead.

We will all miss such a talented person, and despite his confessing to the world that he was an atheist, I believe George truly did believe in God (all be it in his own way, as it is with all of us!)...

RIP

George's heart lasted 71 years. Life is short and you will all know the answers soon enough.
I've heard death explained as simply slipping out of one pair of shoes and into another.

Thanks for the laughs Mr. Carlin. see ya later dude.

I also have enjoyed Robin Williams. It's hard to say who exactly is my favorite comic...I just love comedy and laughter. But all this is for a different thread!

No it isn't... it's all relevant.

Also: at least for the next week, I shall refuse to use the term "PTSD" and shall instead refer to it as "shell shock".
