While they are selling you "peak oil" and future shortages you should check this out.

Imagine being able to commute to work and back every day and never having to pull up to the pump. They'll have none of that.

I think the reason the electric cars went was largely because of a large recharging time. You had to do it pretty much overnight so they wern't good for long haul or if you needed to drive one unexpectedly when it wasn't recharged.

Wow, that had better be true.

Except the bastards are militerising it instead of using it to knock out petrol cars.

The long recharge time didn't even enter into it. People loved those cars. And GM announced that they are going to bring them back. They have to, if they ever hope to make a profit again.

I've heard of that -- it turned out that the guy was just a phony though. Too bad.

I found this, and it looks perfectly credible......... maybe???

And what about that guy Fox News reported on? The one who found a way to burn salt water with micro-waves at 8000 degrees? He hasn't tried turning it into a motor though, he just wants to sell the patent.

I'm thinking of getting an electric bicycle - an ordinary bike with a rechargeable motor attached. It's v hilly round here, and my knee won't take hills on a bike since I busted it a few years back.

But bikes give you so much range. On foot in about half an hour's walk, there's about 12 square miles or so available to you. On a bike you have about 6 times as much at an unhurried pace.

That looks credible to you? Oh man... you can't tell just by the layout that it's a scam? "I saved 130$ last month!" -- Gimme a break.

The water fuel cell apparently violates the second law of thermodynamics. Sometimes, things are simple, you know. The guy was just a phony.

I was being sarcastic. It made me laugh, so I had to share the site. What is funny is how many conspiracy sites are linked to it..... Wacko's.....

A quick google on the subject of "Brown's Gas" will show you that this has been repeatedly debunked for over thirty years.

The biggest problem with electric cars, environmental-wise, is that most of our electricity actually comes from coal, oil and other non-renewable resources.

They had electric cars in the 40's, My great grandfather drove an electric bus. It was basically like bumper cars, There were 2 large antennas attached to the top of the bus. When they made contact with the metal paths, above the road, The car moved.

OK, but electric cars are a good deal more efficient than internal-combustion engines, unless I've been lead wrong. They're basically the most practical solution.

Hydrogen fuel cell is by far the most efficient, Water in, Purified water out, no waiting for a recharge, and if you get thirsty on your way home, just tap your tank :D

You're talking about cold fusion. For more information see The Saint (1997), starring Val Kilmer as The Saint.

Producing hydrogen for consumption in fuel cells is a great height of modern inefficiency.

You silly millie.

ELECTROLYSIS.

Understand what that means?

BUZZZZZZZZZZ.

Now what allows that machine to buzz up the water? Electricity... made from coal, nuclear power, dams.

Now, let's start counting steps.

In order to run a car on hydrogen, you have to BUZZZZZZ the water. You buzz the water with a machine plugged into an electrical grid. The electrical grid gets energy mostly from unclean sources that themselves take HUGE amounts of energy to obtain (drilling for oil, building a nuclear plant and disposing of its waste, building a dam and inadvertently killing wild salmon so we have to farm raise the masses' sushi).

Even if you buzzed the water directly at home, from your own solar cells, you are adding in a wasteful, INEFFICIENT step when current technology for electric engines is MORE EFFECTIVE AND MORE PRACTICAL than hydrogen cells.

They even renamed Brown's gas because it had been comprehensively riduculed so often - but I guess we've got to the point where an advert can make us forget that. Try a google with "Brown's Gas" and "debunk". Or don't bother, and join the Flight From Reason.

Thats right. And why aren't there solar panels on every rooftop and wind turbines on every windy hillside. Unsightly I know but if the alternative is runaway global warming* it seems these measures would be priority #1. Not a global carbon tax and $10.00/gallon gas.

It wasn't an advertisment, it was a news story. They did a ten minute interview with the guy and he told the story of how he accidently invented it. He was working on cure for cancer, and was trying to use radio waves sent through the body to kill cancer cells. He just wanted to see the effects of the radio waves on different things that make up the human body. Just doing some old fashion wood shop cancer research. Anyway, he even met with the department of defense to sell production rights. I did google Brown's gas, but I'm not certain that they are the same thing.
