REQUESTING COMPUTER HELP!

I am trying to format my hard drive and reinstall windows from scratch [a few issues that I'd rather not go into right now came up and are really pissing me off and this is the best way I see to solve all of them at once]

I tried booting from the windows installation cd and telling it to delete my main [and only] partition, but it refuses saying that temp. setup files crucial to the installation of windows are there. Everywhere I've checked online pretty much has said to boot from cd and all your problems will be solved...If you have any constructive input, please post it.

-Thanks in advance, TWO

You will want to thoroughly double check this, but I believe you have to go to the control panel and uninstall windows first. The problem I see is that the only time I have done this (years ago) was on a computer that had a DOS based windows so after windows was gone I used the DOS prompt to finish it. The newer versions of windows are not dos based anymore and I'm not sure what you'll have to do once windows is gone. This should at least give you a direction to research. Good luck!

Sounds like you are actually booting from a partition on the hard drive...possibly you have a recovery CD. If you are crazy...go download knoppix live cd or something and delete the partition with that. Then try to boot from the windows CD to re-install your OS

very tempting...well, I take that back, I'd just take an axe to it [yes, I have actually considered this today, it got me that pissed off], but same basic concept.

Well, I'm gonna go ahead and try a few methods that I've found...so if I don't show up for a while [few days to a week] chances are, I screwed up something somewhere along the line. :P
Chances are, I will [hope not, though].

:ugeek:

No doubt.
I recommend inserting 1 clip 45cal acp into drives a thru f (if applicable) and go outside. This is your chance.

I'm gonna try this. My computer hasn't been letting me kill it by any other conventional methods that I could find, so I'm gonna fall back on this or something similar. Only problem is, when I go to download it, it doesn't open. It [any program I download] says that windows cannot find the program needed to open the file. :?

Umm, well, I had this kind of a problem with SMAC a while ago and what I did was delete the temp files that it says are causing the problems. They're likely corrupted and thus your problem. What the setup software will do is try to install the least amount of files as possible, so if there are already temp files there, it won't install them, but if they're corrupted then the setup hits a wall. If you delete them, your setup software will reinstall a brand new set, and nice and spiffy and all will be fine.

But I'm not a real computer nerd, especially for windows, so don't take my word for gospel.

Found this for you, hope it works.

Step1
If you have a device that won't start and are lucky enough to be Fonzie's best friend, Richie Cunningham, just ask the Fonz himself to fix it for you. Since you're not, you're just going to have to do it yourself. (Note: if you actually are Ron Howard, I loved your movie, "A Beautiful Mind" :)
Step2
Briefly stare down the device that needs to be started. Try to picture its internal workings. Determine the optimal place to rap on the case.
Step3
Make a fist. Be confident. Visualize success.
Step4
It's time to take action: rap your fist sharply and firmly on your target zone. The device should immediately start up.
Step5
Practice turning it on and off by hitting it repeatedly in the same place. You should eventually get good enough to progress from actually hitting the device to simply snapping your fingers to get the same effect. Make sure to honor the Fonz by giving two thumbs up and saying, "Ayyyyyyyyy....".
