Who should be Obama's VP?

Alternate title to this thread could have been "Obama/Hillary ticket: a dream or a nightmare?"

The question is a strategic one. Your political preference doesn't matter; the question is who, out of the plausible candidates, would be the best VP for Obama? Also, another question to consider is whether it really matters or not; do people consider the Vice President at all when voting?

Who should be Obama's VP?

Not Hillary, as Obama would be dead within a few months. I'd like to see Edwards, although John Kerry would be funny. He could announce and Kerry could say "I'm John Kerry, reporting for duty!" again.

=D> =D> =D>

Exactly my feelings! I don't trust Hillary, and she would kill him off right away!

I would like to see Collin Powell, but he doesn't want to do politics or be president...

As the Dems go, I really do like Joe Biden. I didn't think the media gave him fair time to get his message out. Biden is a good man!

From a strategic standpoint, Webb could be a gutsy strategic move, counter McCain's military record, rep the South and especially Virginia. The obvious problem is that he is even less experienced a senator than Obama who gets plenty of deserved criticism for being something of a neophyte to government.

If the question was most electable, I'd have picked Hilary, but since it's best vp, I'm going with Bill Richardson.

Best answer yet.

Why? Because it answers my fucking question!

Can't any of you read? I want to know what ticket you think will win the Democrats the election, not what you'd like.

Ron Paul or Colin Powell would obviously not be such a ticket.

Heh. I answered your question, just without posting.

John Edwards still has a lot of supporters, probably more than any non-nominee other than Hillary or Ron Paul. But Hilary, while loved by many, is hated irrationally by large swatches of the population. And Ron Paul secured his status as a joke when he put out a long ad emphasizing his endorsement by Chuck Norris.

Not to quibble with you about Republican joke candidates, but you're thinking of Huckabee.

And actually, in a revision to what I said above, I might say an Obama-Clark ticket gives us the best shot in November. Gen. Clark, besides being an old conservative military hero Democrat (the first three things all obviously being things Barack is not), has ties to the Clintons which could appease voters angry that she didn't get the nod.

Oh, Obama can pick anyone, it's gg. For comedy I actually would get Ron Paul. I'd then say "Look, I'm gonna win either way, and this will probably discourage assassins."

#-o I knew that...

Well, I've just destroyed all my credibility on this forum in one fell swoop. Time to pay more attention to RL, I suppose.

I can't believe I got Ron Paul and Huckabee mixed up... I have a completely different opinion of Ron Paul than the one I posted, and I'd post it now, but I feel my opinion is now invalid anyway. I think I'll stay out of political discussions for a bit.

I think that Rick Astley would be a fairly solid choice.

You know, he's absolutely guarnateed not to let you down, and you just wouldn't get that from another guy.

HIllary Clinton would work, but I don't see it happening ... for a lot of reasons.

I thought when John Edwards resigned that Obama had made a "closed door" deal .. but time will tell.

I believe Obama should give his delegates to Gore, run a Gore/Obama ticket, then after 8 years of Gore, Obama will have the experience people claim he doesn't have. Personally i believe no Democrat except for Gore could beat McCain in the General elections

You gloat at the ignorance of most voters? (You got to admit, foxnews did a hell of a job hiding RP and making him out to be a nutjob) But, you and the world will see late summer early fall this year, how right Ron was. #-o

I mostly agree. He kicked butt during the debates, and then dissappeared from my tv. What happened?
And although he won no state, 20, and 30% is a huge percentage for someone who was counted out of the race completly. And I still think that his role isn't over. But as a running mate? noppa.

But Edwards has openly stated that he would be happy to be selected as Obama's runningmate. It just may be him...

If by "Lucifer" you mean "Bringer of light", then yes, he is.
