I was listening to THEPOWERHOUR this morning when this came up. I will be careful to say that this is hearsay, because it isn't confirmed. But what I want to know is WTF? Has anyone ever heard of this before? I'm pretty sure that this is BS, but I want to hear it from someone else.

DISCLAIMER: There is a youtube video here that I haven't watched, because I have dail-up. I'm asking about the article.

Yes, I recall hearing about net neutrality a few years ago.

I thought this was just an urban myth, but I checked it out at snopes.com and it is true.

This was discussed in the None of the Above forum first. Take a look:

DaGip, I just want to thank you. I mean this quite seriously: all I have to do now, is read your views on things, and know that they are bollocks.
Its saving me a lot of time.
Thanks, keep up the good work.

Don't antitrust laws prevent this?

I don't think that it can be considered a matter for an antitrust suit, if there are several major providers. And our Justice department also has the choice of whether or not to prosecute.

But I don't think that they will ever be able to privatize the internet, unless some worldwide internet collapse happens. Something so that they could say that all the millions of unchecked worldwide sites are a safety and/or a security risk. They would need a very, very good reason to take our candy.

I honestly think there would be a worldwide revolt if this happened. Seriously, people will not tolerate the Internet being taken away. I know I won't.

Haven't you guys heard the infamous Ted Stevens speech? You see, the internet is a series of tubes. He sent an internet to one of his aides and it took three days to get there! Therefore, we must f*ck over the interwebs.
