Atheist or Theist?

Ever since I entered this game, chatter box/intelligent conversation/.............. has always had topics about religion. So, I was jut wondering what percentage of people who play Conquer Club are atheists (I understand not everyone who plays this game will vote, but something is better than nothing).

You will probably find a decent approximation of those that hang out in chatter box. I'd guess about 1/3, it seems to hover around there. Rather odd considering the broader population.

I would geuss it's because the poor (therefore too poor to afford a computer and internet, and to waste time on websites like this) are less likely to be athiests.

You havn't put agnostic as an option.

Are you saying atheists are poor? I may disagree with them on many subjects, the main one being if there is a God or not, but I wouldn't make such an ignorant and stupid comment. I actually highly respect atheists (in general, not talking about every single person).

To be honest, I don't really know what an agnostic is............. (not ignorant, only 14. Although that is pretty much ignorant :P)

An agnostic is someone who believes that any attempt to prove or disprove the existance of god as futile, and therefore admits that god's existance is impossible to know either way.

Actually, you completely misunderstood my comment, I think. I was saying that poor people are more likely religious than less poor people. Not that religous people are poor, but that poor people are less likely to reject god.

And I also would like an agnostic option. Athiest means you reject the possibility of God. Agnostic can mean a few things, including:
1) You haven't decided whether you believe in God or not.
2) You think we can never know whether there's a God or not, because such a thing is inherently unknowable.
3) You think that there probably isn't any sort of God, but aren't willing to rule the possibility out completely.
4) You don't think about religion at all.
5) You're still searching, religiously

I fall in the second and groups.

It's like in 2004 when people were trying to decide whether to vote Bush or Kerry, and some people just said "f*ck it" and stayed home.

Ah, this is very wise. However, I do not try and prove the existence of God (because I cannot), I have just thought about it very much and concluded that it makes the most sense to me.

I see what you mean now. If I knew how to make a new option, I would, but I don't, lol (unless one of you can help me).

Well, I'm a Roman Catholic Theist, so that's where my vote goes.

lol, nice @ neoteny. just a question neoteny. Do have any respect for religion at all, or do you hate it indefinitely?

Eh, I don't usually hate it, but I don't have much respect for it either. I've mentioned in the past that I consider it a rather naive perspective, and thus hard to respect. And "to each his own" is sometimes a rather dangerous viewpoint as well, so I tend to speak out rather frequently.

I understand now. I disagree with you, however, I do see where you're coming from. I'm sorry you feel that way.

You aren't the first, and are probably not the last. I'd be very bored if everyone agreed with me anyhow.

There are quite a lot of articles about atheists/agnostic differences on wikipedia.

I fall in the 3rd group, usually called agnostic atheist.

I am a full blown Atheist. And I mostly agree with NEOTENY on this one. While I respect the individual, and realize that many need their religion, I have no respect for religion on the wider scale. When your whole argument rests on faith....... you're just acting silly.
