You may remember John Ashcroft, the Attorney General who helped protect us from Tara, our own civil rights and an exposed boob in the Department of Justice (literally)? Lost a close race to one Mel Carnahan for a Missouri Senate seat who would have won by more if not for the unfortunate death of Sen. Carnahan some days before the election in a plane crash. His widow got the seat.
