What with the recent cylone in Burma and earthquake in China, one does get the impression that the Almighty isn't a big fan of Asia-land right now. Especially when one considers the earthquake in Pakistan and the infamous tsunami near Java a few years back.
So what has the largest continent on Earth done to deserve this?
YOUR thoughts please! However misguided they may be!

Does this really need a response?
Well I suppose it does.
It rains on the good and the bad alike.
The sun also shines on the good and the bad alike.
GET OVER IT.

Disaster always impacts more strongly on the third world because of the relative poverty and lack of adequate response, remember Louisianna !

Okay, I might be a bit confusing here and you might think that I'm talking shit but here's two reasons of why I think the Chinese earthquake has happened (besides the stuff about plates colliding and other stuff about plate tectonics).
1.Tibetan separatism
The Dalai Lama wants to recontrol Tibet. One of my relatives read the newspaper one day and he told me about an editorial which said the Dalai Lama wanted more than just the Tibetan Autonomous Region, he wanted every Chinese province and autonomous region with residents of Tibetan ethnicity, to become part of "Greater Tibet" (the actual area the Dalai Lama wants to control). Sichuan province was one of them. Now do remember that the earthquake epicenter was somewhere in Sichuan. Now to make it even more complicated, there are many theories about Buddha himself (you'll see why this may be tied with religion). Buddha is usually a very calm, generous, and happy person. When he noticed that the Dalai Lama was involved in politics (Buddhist monks are not suppose to be involved in politics) and his intentions might not be for the good of the Tibetan people (because Tibet's economy will probably collapse if it does become independent), he became very angry. Legend says that when Buddha is angry, very devastating disasters will happen. Sichuan was a province that the Dalai Lama wants to take control of, so maybe because Buddha was angry about the Dalai Lama's actions, he caused an earthquake which may express his anger and also discourage the Dalai Lama to try to take the province?
2.The PRC-ROC relationship
Ever since the 1945-1949 Chinese Civil War, The People's Republic of China and the Republic of China has had tense relations. The Nationalists was originally aligned with the USA and the Communists originally aligned with the Soviet Union. However, after the Sino-Soviet Split in the 1950's, the PRC was on it's own (except Albania and other countries as allies, but they didn't do anything to help PRC). After the expelling of the ROC from the UN in the 1970s, the ROC was on it's own (except for a few countries where Taiwan embassies are situated). Relationships had not necessarily improved, but it has not worsened either. In 2000, the relationship between the PRC and ROC worsened when Chen Shui-bian became the president of ROC. It almost lead to war between the two powers. Chen was determined that Taiwan was to be represented independently in the UN. However, corruption and other problems with the Chen government lead to a victory for the Nationalist Party in the 2008 Taiwan elections. The Nationalist Party had a much friendlier attitude towards the PRC government (but it wasn't the case right after the Chinese Civil War). The current leader of the party, Ma Ying-jeou, suggested peace and unity between the ROC and the PRC.
Now back to the main point, the ROC provided much relief to the PRC after the earthquake. Ma himself donated a lot of money too. However, the Taiwan presidency was not officially handed over to Ma until May 20. This meant that even with Chen around, Taiwan was showing friendliness towards the PRC. The earthquake caused people to see a never-before-seen true friendship between the two governments. It may be eventual that they will become one nation someday (but with Taiwan keeping their capitalism and democracy). Also, maybe this disaster was an opportunity for the two powers to cooperate.

I hadn't heard or read that the Dalai Lama proposes complete independence for Tibet. Right now it's more like 1000 articles and reports against your one that say he does not propose independence for Tibet.

Well, we could have a debate just on this. You never know if the media is biased. The Chinese media is often biased. The western media is sometimes biased too. I have lost trust in CNN ever since they misreported the Tibetan riots in March this year.

No, No, NO!!!
It is the big green and purple blob at the bottom of the sea that controls all.
To fix this problem, we all need to instantly post $100 (or the Equivalent in your currency, plus a 20% processing fee) into the bank account of this nice Nigerian man who has duly promised to rectify our gross negligance and will ensure it is taken to sea with all the proper ceremonies.

That's quite true. It doesn't help when their government stops the UN and other countries from trying to help out their citizens either.

wait, you are clearly writing a hoax.
but my post is a not a hoax. it is one hundred percent true. there is just as much evidence (if not a whole lot more) that Al-Qaeda controls the weather as there is that 9-11 was an inside job.
coincidence? or immutable proof that al-Qaeda controls the weather, you decide.

Ah yes, "two in the pink, one in the Kamchatka", was it? but I agree, Kamchatka is easily to the most important region in Asia.

This is a horrible thread. Yes, lets make light of a horrible natural disaster, and try and reduce it to the usual nonsense spouted on these forums about race and religion.
ITS A FUCKIN NATURAL DISASTER. A LOT OF HUMAN BEINGS ARE IN PAIN/DEAD. Dont reduce it to intellectual wank. This is REAL.

Thank you Mr Suggs for the humanitarian approach.
However, you must remember that I live in Blighty, where the nearest disaster we get is a shortage of tea.
Our life and theirs are too different to comprehend. Besides, what else os there to do but make light of a horrible situation?
Have you not seen "Patch Adams"? Death can be funny too.
