Anyone taking/already taken any yet?

I just took the Computers Science AB test today. My oh my was that a brain-fuck. Yes I am aware that brainfuck is a programming language (a rather ridiculous one at that).

Yeah, took AP Stats this afternoon (mad at my teacher for not thoroughly preparing us for the test). I'm taking the AP Calc BC test tomorrow morning and the AP Euro History test on Friday afternoon.

You're taking Calc and Euro? What grade are you in? :?

I got a 5 on Euro last year; I thought it was pretty easy. You basically just need to know general themes and stuff. US should be harder, since it apparently gets more specific.

I took Art 2-D Design last year and I'm taking it again this year, will have it next Friday. My friends envy/hate me, and one of them had to miss class yesterday and will miss it again tomorrow and next wednesday. :D

btw I'm aiming for a 5 (in art the highest score is 6).

I'm a senior. Yeah, I got a 5 on the AP US History test last year. It is more detail oriented, but at the same time, it's more familiar to you (or at least it should be, assuming you live in the U.S.)

Anyway, I took the AP Calc exam this morning. It wasn't too bad. I didn't finish the non-calculator multiple choice, but I should be fine. I'm expecting a 3 or 4, maybe a 5 depending on how I did for multiple choice. I completely owned the free response.

Took AP Euro last year, though a friend of mine took about 5 different AP tests last year.

I have a friend who was taking 5 AP classes, but cut it down to 3 tests as he didn't want to write any more essays (thus taking out AP Euro) and he dropped AP Lit because the teacher sucks and felt that it was more important to push a feminist agenda than actually teach people about good literature.

Ah that. Don't you just hate teachers like that?

A long long long long long long (boy does it seem long) long time ago. 8-)

Actually I graduated college before the people who are graduating college this year were born.

AP tests are really a crock. I took maybe a half dozen of them maybe 8, I don't remember... I passed them all and when I went to college I have enough credits for a semester and a half... whoop-de-do. It still took me 6 years to graduate college.

You're not any cooler for taking them, and once you get to college, no one cares. In fact you miss out hanging out in the freshmen classes with your peers. And, once you get to college you'll realize that college isn't about learning or school work (thats graduate school,) but about hanging out and discovering who you are.

The most important thing I learned in my undergraduate days was how to deal with people and work in groups. Oh, and you you do get to college, get over what ever high school hang-ups you have, and go greek. No one cares about your high school hang-up in college, and no one knows about yours either. Going greek is the best thing you can do... You get a group of 30 people where you can learn how to be chill and deal with each other. And that is what undergraduate school is all about.

That's because the white plumed hat coveres my brown grey hair.

I don't take AP's for college, I take AP's because I'm genuinely interested in them...

So you take a test that costs $70 and a few hours out of your live... because filling in bubbles on a Scantron is interesting?

I in fact just got out of the A.P. Lit test (I literally left the room ten minutes ago). I took the US History test last year, and got a four.

I'm taking the tests because I plan to major in physics in college, and since that involves so many classes, I need all the wiggle-room I can get. I'm not trying to get out of all my freshmen classes, nor do I think taking this test makes me "cool". I'm simply using this as a tool to save a bunch of money on a couple college classes, and also take better classes while at high school. It's interesting to hear that the AP tests weren't worthwhile for you, nmh, but I don't think it has to be that way with everyone. It just depends on what you expect to get out of the program.

Well thats the thing... Taking these tests dont really save all that much time or money... Like, I said... I had enough credits from my AP exams to get out of a semester and a half of college... which isn't all that much, any way in the long run. and to you, Diticoaf... any money that you would save will evaporate when you go get your MS degree... Masters courses are way more expensive.

I am glad I took the AP classes, because they were more interesting and challenging than the regular classes offer at my high school... I would take the classes again... however, I don't think that I would take the tests again... IN fact I remember not taking one of the tests for one of my classes anyway.

Yeah, I'd take AP Euro again, though maybe not the test.

You know I would never want to discourage a young student to take advanced courses in High School but heed my advice before it's too late. Taking these courses may make your first year in College a breeze. This sounds good, but you will get lazy on study habbits and when the high school knowledge wears off the result can be drastic. The Sophmore slump. It happened to me. Don't let it happen to you.

(Yes and it had nothing to do with discovering AD&D about the same time. None I tell you!)

Yeah, that's pretty much where I am. I realize that taking the tests won't save a whole lot of time or mean I won't have a bunch of classes yet to take. But I figure if I can save even a few dollars on tuition and be saved from sitting in one more crowded freshman core class, the better. Also, I just really like history and math.

/edit: Also, I just finished the AP Euro test a few hours ago. Bullshitting the essays were fun. But then, I got good results from the AP US test doing the same thing, so maybe I didn't do too bad after all....

eh.

My aim in taking AP classes isn't to become cooler, trust me. We aren't trying to brag about what we are taking, or how many, we are just talking about them.

Also, if college is about finding yourself, I really dont want you to tell me how to go about doing it. I'll figure it out for myself, and form my own opinions about it.
