corner store here in my 'hood, about a block away... on tap at the Gingerman downtown or on tap around the corner at the Saxon Pub... um, the 7-11 on south lamar, the 7-11 on N. Lamar and 9th... the convenience store at the corner of 15th and nueces... pretty much all over here in austin... what is the problem?-0

p.s.-you sound like my friends in detroit that cream over fat tire and jack in the box and taco cabana when they come to my neck of the woods... my holy grail is Fat Burger or Astro Burger... sigh... can't get those here!!!

WRONG. I buy a six pack at 15th and Nueces 5 days a week. They do NOT have El Presidente.

St. Pauli Girl

Alaskan Amber

Black Butte Porter

Fat Tire

Killian's Irish Red

Widmer Crimson Wheat

That's all the ones I like. My buddy and I make it a habit to try new brews on occation, so the little keeps on growing.

I must be very lucky. There is a Mährun Market in my city which calls itself Beer World and claims its the largest beer market in the world. They have it all. On top of that living here in Germany aint too bad either. LOL :D

When I was down in Tampa, we cleaned out a bar so that my last choice was between a Guinness and El Presidente. One of the people I was drinking with gave me a vivid description of how El P tastes, so I took the Guinness.

Well, it's one that I hadn't tried (and still haven't). If I were not already blitzed out of my mind, I might have tried it, but broadening my horizons wasn't on my agenda at the time.

Be smart: don't be like my dad who bought the equipment years ago, then lost half of it along with interest to do it at all and settle for American Budweiser.

*vomits at the thought*

Good to hear.

But I have to ask, is that the only one you recognized or is it that it was the only one on the list you liked?

You must not have read many of my posts here......

Beer is a passion of mine. I've been homebrewing for 5+ years.
The history, the art, and the science of brewing & beer are all of great interest to me. As it should to most; because without beer, there would not have been the rise of civilization as we know it.

I've drunk all of the beers on your list many, many times. It's not the ONLY one I like, but the one I like most. It's an odd list, though... St. Pauli Girl??

Why not? Tastes better than most other beers that are that golden color and clearness. But there are others that fit that catagory. The list continues to grow, BTW, did I mention Killian's Irish Red? If not, that too. And I forget the company, but it made a fine wheat ale that was good, a Belgian variety if I recall.

Besides, I happen to like variety. If I found a place locally that sold Mead, or Cider, or Peary (A Cider-like beverage made with pears) or any others I fail to mention, I'd try that stuff out too and probably enjoy it.

Izman: I was not placing you in the stupid box, that was a warning to others.

No offense taken at all. Even if someone wanted to try homebrewing and didn't like it, or lost interest, it wouldn't break the bank.
However, if anyone is interested in trying to homebrew, one need only an initial investment of <$80 or so for a starter kit.

This one's $73.99 at http://www.northernbrewer.com:

If it didn't work out, you could always turn around and sell it.
Having said that, one could also spend A LOT of $$$ on brewing beer as well (I am certainly guilty of that).

All are free to ask me more about homebrewing as I'm always looking to find ways to get more beer in the world.
