The Post Your Favorite Band Thread!

Postby skaterchild3 on Wed Mar 26, 2008 11:29 pm

Basically a thread to post your favorite band, and why you like them.

My favorite band changes so often, but right now it's System of a Down, I love there ability with the guitar especially is B.Y.O.B, and the vocals are pretty solid too.

Firstly, Pink Floyd is my favourite band.

Secondly, i'd prefer the Avatars and player info on the left of screen, not on the right.
It's the English way.

Not sure but I prefer the comedy style bands more, wouldn't say I had a favourite
I'm pretty sure there's a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking. And I plan on finding out what that is.

i've been listening to a hell of a lot of Muse lately. (the Rhodes on Butterflies and Hurricanes is so beautiful and perfect)

i go through phases.

and hey, i have a "theory" -- anyone else notice how the best British 'art rock' bands start out sounding like a great band before them?

Pink Floyd started out sounding like the Beatles, Radiohead started out sounding like Pink Floyd, and Muse started out sounding like Radiohead.

(this theory doesn't really apply to post-punk)

Muse, Pink Floyd, and the Sex Pistols. Because they're good bands.

Serbia, you beat me to it. You are one of my people. PEARL JAM. Listen to "Release", the last track on "Ten", and tell me Vedder doesn't have the most emotional voice rock has ever seen. I've heard that song compared to a "rock-Pavarotti" for its beauty. A million reasons that they are without a doubt the best....

i liked Vedder's solo work on the soundtrack for Into the Wild. Pearl Jam fans should not sleep on it.

of all the lead singers from seminal bands from the nineties to release solo albums, on Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell stand out as releasing quality solo efforts.

the same cannot be said for Thom Yorke or Billy Corgan

Used to be SOAD til I die but now I think I'm changing to Radiohead.

That's an interesting connection but I can't think of how Radiohead sounded at all like Floyd. :?
Muse used to sound a lot like Radiohead... Of course Radiohead is more talented but I think Matthew Bellamy is a better singer than Thom Yorke. My favorite thing about Radiohead is actually how long they've been playing; 7 unique albums show such an awesome growth and diversity that the average 2-4 album band can't match up to.

The Smiths.

How can you not love a band who wrote a song called:

Good bands, not my favorite, but good nonetheless.

As for my 2nd favorite, Chris LeDoux & the Saddle Boogie Band.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, Sex Pistols never selling out? Maybe technically true because they were never 'keeping it real' in the first place, but whatever really.
