I found this to be a very good article, as it is hard to gauge one style as being superior to another, as each is suitable in different encounters.

Each style has it's own strengths and weaknesses.
Example:Karate-Strong standing, and good for medium to long distance hand to hand fighting. Weaknesses though are if someone gets into a close combat with you, or you are taken to the ground.
Judo-Great for close combat and fighting on the ground. Weaknesses include long distance fighting and lacking in stand-up strikes.
The best though, would have to be Krav Maga. It's what the Isreali military and civilians are taught in case of an attack by terrorist groups. It utilizes various moves from other styles and combines them together in order to quickly dispatch the person attacking you in close quarters combat. It (along with Muay Thai) are not meant, nor never have been meant for, sporting. They were designed to quickly kill the enemy. Though most Martial Arts started out this way, many have become "watered down" over the years as to become more "sportsmen like." But these two styles (though Krav Maga is newer) still retain their lethality.

ive heard a lot of people go against krav magia but then again they have been people who talked about it more from teh sport perspective...it might be very good in hand to hand type of fighting,.

I guess it all depends on the situation. I think boxing should be up the top somewhere.
Out on the street, most of the 'big' fights i've seen where 2 quality fighters were involved, I found the boxer out fought every martial artist.
Only one fight i recall went the other way, when an aikido fighter who was provoked, made a mess of a mate of mine, literally without throwing a punch.
My mate is a great street fighter, but got hotheaded and ended up tossed around like a ragdoll.

i mean i think anyone with any type of training is going to be in a good spot in something like a bar fight. But id suppose if you found yourself vs someone who also had some skill, some styles would work better than others, but i think learning the most you can learn from any given style probably isnt a bad start.

In defense, Aikido and the many Ryu (Schools, or styles) of Jujitsu are superb. Coupled with Karate, Wing Chun or Muay Thai for the offense, this is a lethal combination.
In the modern era, one needs to cross-train in at least two different styles in order to even being to be realistic; one grappling style like Aikido and one striking style like Muay Thai.

Kung-Fu conquers. If you admire Bruce Lee, then you've gotta admire kung-fu. One of the traditional Chinese martial arts, it has proven itself to be a worthy martial art to learn and use.

A kick to the balls will usually do the trick.

If you really admire Bruce Lee, then you'll know that Kung-Fu, in his case Wing Chun, was not the only style he had studied, but Judo, Kali/Escrima and even arts like Western Boxing and Fencing entered into the art now known as Jeet Kune Do.

But didn't become famous until after he began a wider study. It was Bruce Lee who spearheaded the notion of following more than one "way".
