Having just experienced a nostalgia cramp that felt rather like dysentry, I felt like startign a thread for anyone else who read the Stainless Steel Rat books and thought Slippery Jim diGriz was the bestest. A selfless public servant, providing entertainemnt by only robbing institutions with insurance cover :)

His other sci fi was great too, as I rememebr - West of Eden? With the lizards?

You know, I never read any of the Rat books.

I loved Bill, the Galactic Hero, though!

I really read them when I was too young to appreciate all of the subtle jokes and innuendo that was thrown in there.

Maybe I'll have to re-read.

i read Bill the Galactic Hero too.

when i was prolly too young.

and now i feel like i'm too old to care for sci-fi anymore.

not that it's a childish genre, just that my own interests grew and there are so many books i want to read.
