Best Movie of All Time

Postby spring1 on Mon Aug 07, 2006 10:44 pm

Yes, I am bored. Can't sleep...I have no turns to take...No posts seem interesting enough to comment on...so my mind turned to a conversation I had with my father the other day. Being an old timer, and thus, having his opinion automatically be fact (can't argue with that logic--I figure if you've been alive for 75 years, you've earned certain undisputed rights! hehe), he commented on what he thought was the best movie of all time--Citizen Kane. While I whole-heartedly agreed with him while in his presence, later I couldn't help but wonder what other side effects his heart medication was having on him---perhaps affecting his taste?...hmmm..
At any rate, which leads me to here. What's the concensus of the CC community? And, no...you can't count porn, Wicked. And forget about the Teletubby movie or whatnot for all you youngins out there...And, no, I haven't bothered to check if this has ever been posted before...don't feel like looking!

In your opinion...what was the best movie ever made and why?

Me? I have two that I can't decide between: Stand By Me (don't really know why...perhaps because in many ways it parallels my own childhood..who knows!) and Braveheart (this movie doesn't even need an explanation).

The right stuff is pretty good.

I was suprised how much I liked Casablanca when I finally got around to watching it. I'll have to think about it for weeks and try to decide what the bestest one is.

The Great Escape, quickly followed by Sergeant York (a true classic)... gotta throw 12 Angry Men in there also. Glad this isn't hard. :)

I'd say Longest Yard, the Holy Grail, the two Pirates of the Carribean movies, the LOTR trilogy, and Starwars.
