I found this to be a bit amusing...

Postby muy_thaiguy on Mon Feb 25, 2008 7:29 pm

The other day in my history class, I learned that my state "snuck" into the bill that would allow the Dakotas, Idaho, and Montana as states. The way this happened was, that the people in the then territory, formed their own Constitutional Congress (without permission from the US Congress), used parts of other State's and the US's Constitution (except that it distinctly says in the Wyoming Bill of Rights that citizens can own guns, not limited to a militia etc.), except for water (owned by the state) and women's sufferage (first state and territory to do so). And, probably the only thing that might have hindered Wyoming from becoming a state (a politician was able to convince the Congress about Wyoming being put into the bill), was the population. One of the Congressmen knew someone in Wyoming and wanted them to get a head count, thing was, the guy was the same one that put together the Constitutional Congress. So, they said that Wyoming (in Congress that is) had "sufficient" population to become a state. Which was 60,000. What made Congress originally question the population, was that only around 8,000 people voted.

Thoughts anyone?

You seemed a bit wordier than you need to be. Though I have that problem occasionally as well. A little interesting but not something that has really left much of an impression on me.

Well, I actually left a bit out, so it could have been a bit longer.

Sure, I read about History, but Wyoming is just an obscure state.
If it were a person, it would have red hair.
It it was a celebrity, it would be Steven Segall.

Yet Harrison Ford (when not in Hollywood) lives here. Also, the trails out West (like the Oregon and such) split up in Wyoming, not to mention we supply quite a bit of oil, coal, and uranium to the world, thank you very much (also includes those in California who seem to take such things for granted).

I still don't care about Wyoming. The most interesting sparsely populated states is Alaska, where you can be 55 and still look like you are 21.

Maybe, but my town is about 35,000 on average (it has 3 different schools, so it varies on the time of year), Cheyenne around 60,000, and Casper about 50,000.
