So there I was, bored out of my mind, prank-calling local Indian Resteraunts using an Arnold Schwarzenegger soundboard, and watching videos of the man in action on youtube... but then something very strange happened. I came across a series of commercials, and could make absolutely no sense whatsoever out of them. No matter how hard I stared at the screen, there appeared to be no logic or coherency in them whatsoever... What is 'Moi'? Why the golden suit? Is he supposed to be juggling those guys? Just what the hell is going on?

Please, watch these highly strange clips, and answer me the following questions:
What the hell is going on?
What in the name of all things holy is the product?
Why is Arnold Schwarzenegger in Japan?
What is the actual message of the adverts?

Here, for your entertainment and puzzlement, are some sincerely odd commercials:

Personally, I blame Hiroshima for this kind of crap.

MOI!!!

Further research makes that theory seem highly likely... but who are the guys he's playing mah-jong with, and why does one of them end up covered in paper while Arnold dons a golden-suit and laughs at him?

This one clears some of the confusion, but much remains.

I found a thread on the Interwebz that has some info about what the commercial is:
http://www.jref.com/forum/archive/index ... 10990.html

Some info:
TwistedMac wrote:He's selling "Arinamin V" which is a drink which supposedly gives you a boost in strength or stamina. Its aimed at tired businessmen or men who need that "extra boost" while doing you know what.

I love that commercial too, but the one you saw is the sequel. You have to see the first one.
yeah.. in the prequal you've got him as some sort of attendant at a mah-jongg game and this one guy gets very desperate and you see arnold running around the corner doing the "DOSH!"thing. You then see the same guy from before buried in mah-jongg point-markers and still having them rain over him and Arnold in the foreground laughing maniacally... best. commercial. ever.

And Arnold's speech at the end ("Daijoubui") roughly translates as "OK!"

EDIT: Oh, here's the official website for the drink:

Oh, yes. Our beloved govenor at work. You gotta love him. He would be president if he could. Watching local political campaigns is like watching one of his movies, highly entertaining for the accent alone.

Got any samples you'd care to show us?

The best we get over here is him saying "Ven can yu staaaart" in an attempt to lure us all on holidays to your hallowed state.

He should totally be the president.

Also, almost all of your hollywood stars are in commercials.
