TAXES

I am usually so proud of having my taxes in by January 1st.
I keep forgetting to do them, though.
Taxes, taxes, taxes the most wonderful time of the year.
I was instilled with a love of tax season from a very young age. My dad was always super-proud of doing his own taxes. I'd sit by him and attentively watch. He deducted everything. He was self-employed, owned more than just a homestead, and at any given time had 4 kids in college, so it wasn't an easy feat. One year he was audited and had to pay $14,000 in back-taxes. It broke his poor little heart, you can imagine.
Last year I did a 1040, because I had moved across-country, but this year I'll just be going with the 1040EZ. Unfortunately, about half of my income from 2007 came to me untaxed, so I'm gonna be doling out.
Now, for those of you who are college-aged, or with college-aged kids, consider this: You don't just get the joy of doing taxes, but also the FAFSA! What fun!

My taxes take too much time. So I have someone else do them. I always get money back and cannot remember the last time I had to pay anything back.

Lol you poor Americans. Here in New Zealand they automatically take your taxes off before you get paid. The system is called PAYE or Pay As You Earn. It makes life so much easier if you are only an employee

Practically everyone in the United States has their taxes taken off of their pay. But, we still have to "file" (calculate and mail into the government) taxes for the year in the beginning of the next year, paying more for things like interest earned and capital gains, paying less for things like work and educational expenses. Most employees end up getting a lot of the taxes paid from their payroll
back.
Does that make sense?
I guess not.

From what limited knowledge I have, here it is, for those employed in government directly or indirectly have their taxes deducted at source (TDS) and thus recieve their salary with taxes already paid. For those who are in private businesses etc. they have to pay the taxes themselves. However, everyone needs to file (^ as explained) their taxes regularly.

taxes are, unlike guns, unconstitutional. They will only take my money when they have prized this steel from my cold, dead fingers. Does anyone wanna come round my house and eventually shoot some IRS representatives?
