In Pittsfield, MA, women are not allowed to wear a dress that comes above their knees.
Albeit, this archaic law is not enforced, but it's still on the books.

A while back (last year?) a guy was jailed for two months for killing one of the Queens swans.
On a good day, i find this endearing and quirky.
On a bad day, this country's absurd anachronisms make me mad!
I think you are right about the mince pies as well.

In 1913 congress passed the 16th Amendment which allowed the gov't to tax income, which it could not do prior.
Not all states ratified it, which to this day leads to a debate that should probably be held in another thread........

To make a strong, competent challenge for this veenings "BORING GIT OF THE DAY AWARD", the income tax *mass slumpimg of heads over keyboards*
The income tax in Britain is still technically a "temporary measure" which has to be voted on every year in the Commons.
But we'll beat Napolean eventually, and then it will be repealed er...

In arkansas, you're not allowed to hold office or testify in court if you don't believe in god.
