Not to mention getting drunk just for the sake of it. So why the apparent dependency?

Well, you and i seem to have the same question. I don't understand it either. I have to listen to kids in my classes talking about how wasted they goton the weekend and how they were involved in druken sexual acts and then the girls wonder how they got pregnant.
You can be smart about drinking and then there are the idiots that ruin their reputations for a bottle of booze.

I think I'm probably addicted to alcohol, much in the same way that I'm addicted to caffeine. I associate it with feeling a certain way around a certain time of day, and as that time approaches, my body starts craving it.
On the average day, I drink at least enough to make your average high school girl drunk, and some days enough to make your average college boy drunk, and every once in a while enough to make a drunk drunk. I don't skip work to go drink, I don't miss work and important appointments because of my drinking, I don't forego groceries to buy booze, and my drinking doesn't negatively affect my relationships with friends and family. At this point, my dependence is not a problem in my life. I hope that if it ever becomes one, I will be wise enough myself to recognize it, or have people that love me enough to tell me so.

sounds like something a brewer would say...unfortunately correlation does not create casualty.

She's a cutie, too.
But I think she is too smart for me. She knows about science and math and stuff. All I can do is write.

The people that really confuse me are not the drunks or the 15 yr olds trying to get served. Its the odd middle aged to early fifties lot that scare me. You know who I mean the guy that is always in the pub drinking even if you walk past durring the day, every pub in the land has them and yet their never drunk or skint b&stards. Where is satan i need to sell my soul....

I used to work with a HARDCORE alcoholic. He could drink constantly, yet it would only take a beer or two to get him staggering and stupid. Come to find out it was because he always had lots of alcohol in him, it just took that one or two to put him "over the edge".
