I put $550 on the Pats to win by at least 14.

I placed a $550 bet on the Patriots to beat the Giants. The line at the time of the bet was NE by 13.5, so they have to win by 14 for me to win. I based this bet on past history. Usually when a dominant #1 seed plays a low eeded team in the Superbowl, you have a super blowout. Was this a smart bet?

I predict they'll lose by 12.

Yes, I don't know anything about either team or what sport this is about, but I predict they'll lose by 12.

Do you live in a cave by any chance? The superbowl is watched every year by over 1 Billion people WORLDWIDE. It doesn't take an American to know what the Superbowl is.

Why people say that Americans are egocentric is beyond me.
But I agree with MeDefe

I think you mistook not-giving-2-flying-fucks-about-your-stupid-bet with ignorance. Common mistake.

It is not egocentric to think that someone should know of the Superbowl. It is watched by over 100 Million Americans, and over 1 Billion people total. That means 90% of the Superbowl Audience
isn't American. A non American not knowing what the Superbowl is, would be like an American not knowing about the worldcup. If there are any Americans who don't know what the worldcup is, speak up. I seriously doubt there are any. MeDefe, if you TRULY don't know what the Superbowl is, you are the most sheltered person I have ever come across.

It's always foolish to take a line bigger than 6.5. Notice the score on the last few Pat's games? I'm thinking you're losing money.
Oh, and by the way, there is no way that 1 in 6 people globally watch the superbowl. Try some facts.

that 97 million viewers is just the US. The superbowl has drawn a Billion or so viewers worldwide for a while, a fact that is well known in the US. Check this out

Good luck with your bet, I'm supporting the Pats.
Unfortunately, although the 1 billion thing may be well known in the US, it doesn't actually make it a fact.
From MSNBC:
Superbowl Myths Debunked
It's number 6. They estimate the actual figure to be more like 150 million.

I don't know....I'm from New England, and think the Pats will win this game & wrap a perfect season. But I don't think the margin will be a full two touchdowns....maybe it's Brady's health concerns, I don't know. I'm thinking something like 35-28, something in the 7-10 point range. But hey man, all the best for ya. I hope the Pats slaughter them & get you some $$$.

I hope its a close game...that's what makes it fun. A blowout is great but its boring.

Go GIANTS! (but the Pats will win...I don't know by how much though, do you still win the bet if the spread is more than 14?)

superbowl games tend to be ok to bet a wider line though, as despite the last few years, they will often go a little wider than the spread.
Id probably rather bet a money line than a spread that big though.

If the spread increases, it doesn't effect me at all. When you bet, you get a betting ticket with the point spread printed on it for what it was at the time of the bet. If you win, you take the ticket to the cashiers window at the casino, and collect your winnings. Whatever spread is on that ticket is what you get credit for. They could make the pats favored by 45, and it won't effect me in the slightest.

Yep, I sure hope you can because I'm not sure they'll win by 14 if they win in the first place.

They might win, but not by 14...that spread seems impossible from the game that I am watching.
Well, back to wanking to the Go Daddy.com girls!
