What the hell is alternative - seems like all rock that is unclassifiable is put in alternative. My favorite though.

I had to go with hip-hop really...

Although it depends on the day of the week. Hip-hop probably gets most rotation, and most of the top albums are thus.

Hip-hop/rap is not fuckin music. literally all it is is a cycled, 2-bar melody with word monotonically spoken.

haha... looks like someone here never heard of openmindedness.
who are you to judge what is or isn't music?
do you take virtuosity on a guitar (or the impression of it) as highest criterium? imho, no one HAS to play an instrument to be able to make music.
and believe me, there is more to rap music than just some words over a loop. not that i'm favouring rap over metal, guess i'm an allrounder...

no need for swearing. bet you don't like metal either. but just don't be radical, no one likes another style if you wear a too tight pair of glasses...

I like metal. I listen to pretty much every genre, I'd say. Perhaps not so much country or classical (a little), but still...

I DJ and produce hip-hop as a passtime, and so I guess I have something of a specific interest. I've played guitar in bands, some hardcore, punk and a couple of ska / funk. Just had far too many internet metal fanboys mouthing off over the years.

I like some metal. And I think that's the problem here. If you're saying that one genre is better than all other genres, you're just a bigot. I can understand if someone just doesn't like rap, I have many friends who don't like it. But don't call it not-music just because you don't like it.

Well, I understand where PC9 is coming from... See, the only rap he's (probably) heard is what the niner middle class white kids are calling "The Language of the Street yo bitch f*ck that hoe ass ect. ect." (that's all that 50 Cent, Soulja Boy crap) rather then the (I'm assuming, anyway, as I'm sure Guiscard has some taste and class) decent (I say decent, not good, as I don't like any rap, just my tastes) things that Guiscard listens too. Probably a lot of local artists, underground scene, you know, stuff like that. Not the mainstream drivel that you hear on MTV.

Underground rap is great, the chill stuff you just sit on a sidewalk listening to it with a radio and your buddies. Stuff like the roots and the jurassic 5.

Again, I'm just not big on rap in either form (though I'd much much MUCH rather take the underground stuff than the mainstream liquid shit [I'm sorry to any of you folks that listen to that, but it's true, it's fucking god awful stuff...]...).

It kinda depends on where you grow up too. Where i live dancehall rap and hip-hop (little rock) are the big things.not just the stuff on the radio either. some of my friends have music on there i pods you'll never hear. that i didn't hear until they showed me

The Roots are awesome. Jurassic 5 also.

I listen to the Wutang clan, Redman, dutch rap (which is awesome) and Common among others. (And the ones unrig mentioned.)

Mainstream rap is horrible, if I listen to another G-UNIT!!@!@ song about how they smell pussy I'll fucking shoot myself.
