Santana to NYC!

I told you all! I predicted it correctly!

Anyway, USA Today, ESPN, and MLB.com reported that Johan Santana is being traded to the New York Mets for outfielder Carlos Gomez, and pitchers Phil Humber, Deolis Guerra, and Kevin Mulvey. The Mets have been given a 48-72 hour window to sign Santana to an extension, which, after a physical, would complete the deal. What I'm most amazed about is that the Mets got him without having to give up super-prospect Fernando Martinez or their other talented pitcher Mike Pelfrey. Go Mets!

If they aren't your super-prospects, are we still talking legit MLB talent here, or did you guys get a bargain?

At least he's going to the Mets, and not the Yankees.

We got a complete bargain. One or two might be MLB level, but none can be the superstar Santana is. :)

They (twins) should have taken either the Ellsbury deal with boston or the hughes deal with the yankees when they had the chance, but the twins know young talent. I would not be surprised if one of the four guys turns out well for them.

Yeah, the Twins management has always been fairly good at picking talent, I noticed Santana's decline last year. Even though he was still pitching fairly decent, I think the Twins got whiff of it too and decided to get some young blood. They are making the right decision, I am sure of it. The Mets will be pleased with Santana, he is still a ML pitcher!
