Whatever happened to...

Good quality movies that had good actors, good singers, good story lines, non-political message, family-friendly movies? You rarely see them anymore. There are a few being made, but not very many at all. So, what happened to such quality movies? Where comedy wasn't a sexual inuendo every second scene and was actually funny to a wide range of audiences. Now all you really see are "IT'S AN ALIEN! BLOW IT UP!," or "He chopped off that guys head!" or, "it's teh robot-sex! let's do it in public!" Just to name a few examples of what I seem to see in nearly every movie that is made. If it wasn't so common, then I wouldn't have a problem with such low quality films (don't even get me started on Napolean Dynamite, that movie was a waste of an hour and a half of my life), but the amount that they are made is just dissapointing, with only a few decent ones being released at such great intervals.

Your thoughts on this?

I'm afraid I will have to kill you now.

That will be all.

When did people make those kind of movies?

only once or twice a decade. The problem is, we've all seen the old ones, and it seems that no new good ones are coming out.

Sorry dude, you grew up. My students love Star Wars Episode 1. They haven't seen the original trilogy. I guess it's like people who haven't seen Casablanca, or The Third Man (my favourite movie), and have no interest in it because they're old.

There are movies that people love because they saw them at a certain time in their life. Their are movies that stand the test of time. Rarely the two two will meet.

   What was that even mean to be??

I sincerely believe that the worst film ever made in the past couple of years was either Hitman or Pirates of the Carribean III.

Or roe recently, Meet the Spartans. (though Hitman is pure crap, at least it wasn't made by the retards who made Date Movie and Epic Movie...)

What did you think of that? I'd've thought any spoof of 300 had to be funny...

No Country for Old Men is brilliant!

But generally I agree, all this fake acting and computer made monsters makes me laugh and cry at the same time. :?

Nothing but gay jokes and Britney Spears.... I hated it, even though I got in for free. These guys don't know how to properly parody; I saw Epic Movie on TV, and it was pure crap, as well...

In terms of sheer entertainment value, 300 was excellent. Obv. (to use a mustardism) no depth and subtility to it....

My favorite. I just love seeing how life will suck tomorrow. I'm also obsessed with the idea of the Mayan calendar doomsday. Creepy...

Bladerunner is one of the best films ever made, possibly in th top ten.
