You're the one to introduce race into this...

It shouldn't matter, they were both amazing in their own ways.

Both these legends have their own style, and to compare them is just not fair.
I really enjoy hendrix for his raw talent, and off the wall style. The man did a lot with so little.

Page is by far the more technical, and his styling's are something to be respected, he is also more seasoned. Mostly due to the fact he is still alive.

Comparing these 2 , is like comparing apples and oranges,
They are both great, but not the same species.

:D :D 8)

Well this is a really hard question. Jimi Hendrix had a natural talent that is extremely rare, and he used it well. Instead of shredding nonstop(like Dragonforce  ) he made his solos musical and more simplistic than his talent would allow him to be.

Jimmy Page was also an extremely good guitarist, top 3 of all time definetely, but he was also backed up by a supporting cast of the best musicians the world has ever seen. John Bonham, Robert Plant, and the rest all are the best/almost the best in their respective intstruments.

So your saying the only reason he's amazing is because of his heritage?

When applying for college, a college that is faced with two academically identical applicants, where one is black and one is white, will always pick the black one.

No. He is saying the Jimi gets extra credits for being black. Reverse racism if you want to call it that.

alot of people say jimi hendrix is overated as a guitarist. because everyones heard of him, so everyone thinks, oh yeah that amazing guitarist who is the best ever. yes he was amazing. but the stuff he does is now nothing special. almost any commercially successful guitarist these days can do what he does and more.
you need to look at the virtuoso's like steve vai or joe satriani. then you see the level that people are at now.
but i can still respect hendrix for being the influence cited by pretty much all guitarists. as well as the fact that he's amazing
