As an American, I think 'English accents' make everybody... from little children to professors... sound very smart and sophisticated.
What do you [meaning people who live in England-- or actually anywhere other than the USA] think of "American Accents"? Do they just sound funny? Smart? Extraordinarily dumb?

I'd argue the Southern Accent deduction but it is true. As far as Boston/NY accents. I'd take off more than that.

Southern as in Texas? That puts you right in between dullard and stump. It gets severe as you head East or West.

No Southern as in Southeastern. I call Texas accents are different and in my opinion they CAN make you sound the dumbest of all.

Wait...people pronounce the s? No surprise I guess, this is America. I have sometimes notice i stress my short a's a bit (Chicago). Other than that I have a pretty boring accent.
